Before Willow could fire back, she caught sight of Silas approaching in the distance. He had left his apartment later, specifically staggering their arrival times so they wouldn't run into each other at the office. Neither of them had anticipated this confrontation.
Julian saw Silas too. Instantly, he reached out and grabbed Willow's arm, jerking her close so that from a distance, it looked like they were locked in an intimate embrace.
"Your boss is here," Julian whispered maliciously. "Take a wild guess. How do you think he'll react to an employee whose messy private life is damaging the company's image?"
Willow hadn't even thought of that. She only knew that being manhandled by Julian, especially with Silas watching, made her skin crawl. "Let go of me."
"What? Are you scared?" Sensing her panic, Julian smiled darkly. "You clawed your way into this job. You definitely don't want to lose it. How do you think Silas Thorne will react when he finds out you're screwing Arthur Vance? Do you think he'll get pissed and fire you both?"
As Silas drew closer, Willow's desperation to break free intensified. She lowered her voice into a lethal threat. "If you don't back off right now, I'm calling the cops. Let everyone see the great CEO of the Sinclair Group acting like a lunatic on the street. If you feel like Sinclair's stock hasn't plummeted enough lately, by all means, keep pushing me."
"Even if the cops show up, this is a domestic dispute," Julian scoffed, though he finally released his grip on her arm. "No rush. I'm giving you time to think it over. I have all the time in the world to drag this out. But hear this: I will never agree to a divorce, and your appeal won't change the court's mind."
