Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 389

When Silas first spotted her with Julian, a flare of anger ignited in his chest. She had promised that very morning to keep her distance, yet here she was, standing with him again. He had marched over, fully intending to interrupt them, fueled by a jealous edge. But as he drew closer, he heard the exact words he had been dreading.

*I don't have those kinds of feelings for him.*

Silas froze. The air around him seemed to plummet in temperature. The nervous anticipation he had carried all day slowly drained away, leaving behind a hollow, suffocating wave of despair.

All his careful planning, the speeches he had rehearsed in his head since breakfast—it all evaporated into thin air.

She didn't have feelings for him. Which meant there was absolutely no point in asking the questions he had prepared. Pushing the issue now would only make her uncomfortable and complicate their working relationship.

He reasoned that maybe she had just been too polite to reject him outright in Seattle. Given his position as her boss, she probably felt pressured to keep things vague to avoid professional awkwardness. But the brutal truth was undeniable: she wasn't interested.

He silently blamed himself. He had been too arrogant, assuming that just because she despised her husband, she would automatically fall into his arms. A broken marriage didn't guarantee she wanted a new relationship, and it certainly didn't mean she wanted one with him.

Silas didn't stay to hear the rest of the conversation. He didn't call out to her. He just turned on his heel and walked away. He refused to force his feelings on her or pressure her to move at his pace.

Instead of crowding her, he would retreat back behind the boundary lines. Back to being just her boss.

Once Silas was gone, Willow quickly wrapped up her confrontation with Julian. Her final message was crystal clear: if he kept harassing her, she would make his life a living hell. If he wanted to do this the easy way, he would sign the papers. If not, she would fight the appeal until the bitter end. One way or another, she was getting that divorce.

After Julian drove off, Willow pulled out her phone and called Silas. When he finally answered, his voice sounded heavy and distant.
