Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 390

Julian returned to the Sinclair mansion in a foul mood. Being publicly humiliated by Willow meant he needed somewhere to vent his frustrations the moment he walked through the door.

Because of the recent incident with Leo Yardley, Vivienne Sinclair had been walking on eggshells around the house, terrified of stepping out of line in front of Julian. Even young Toby Sinclair had become noticeably quieter.

The moment Julian walked in, Toby dropped his toys and scrambled to fetch his father's slippers. "Daddy, you're home!"

Julian absentmindedly patted the boy's head, saying nothing.

Seizing the opportunity to please his mother, Toby piped up again. "Daddy, have you eaten yet? Mommy made a bunch of really good food. Come eat with us!"

"You guys eat. I'm not hungry." With that, Julian bypassed them and headed straight for his study.

Having failed his mission, Toby froze in place. He slowly turned his head and caught the absolutely venomous glare Vivienne was shooting his way. Terrified, the little boy immediately covered his head with his arms.

Toby knew his parents were fighting lately, but he didn't actually care. Their arguments didn't affect his life; he still got to eat whatever he wanted, play with his toys, and go about his day.

But his mother's beatings were another story.

Vivienne constantly ordered him to act cute and coax Julian. If he forgot his lines or failed to get Julian's attention, she punished him. Sometimes it was a hard smack on the backside; other times it was a vicious pinch to the thigh that left deep purple bruises. She was merciless. It felt exactly like the times he used to beat the stray puppies in the yard—always striking with maximum cruelty.
