Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 506

Willow took a deep breath, gathering her courage. "If someone had a terrible past... if they were carrying a lot of baggage and entangled in messy situations they couldn't just walk away from. How would you view that person? Would you think... they were unworthy?"

She beat around the bush, too embarrassed to state her own insecurities outright, using a hypothetical scenario to quietly gauge his feelings.

Silas gazed down at her lowered lashes, a heavy ache settling in his chest. He knew exactly why she was asking.

Framing it so carefully, right after a confrontation with Julian—it had to be about her nightmare of a marriage.

Silas leaned in slightly, his voice dropping into a warm, gentle cadence. "I don't care about the past. Those chapters are already closed. They don't define the present, and they certainly don't define the future."

His eyes were entirely earnest, every word anchored in absolute certainty. "If I were ever to meet someone like that, my only thought would be a deep regret that I hadn't shown up in her life sooner, to spare her from suffering so much."

At his words, Willow's head snapped up. A lump formed in her throat, and she stared at him, utterly captivated.

She had never imagined a man like him existed. He was so incredibly good—so perfect it felt surreal. But it was exactly because he was so good that she refused to drag him into her mess.

Perhaps wanting to reassure her that he meant what he said, Silas added softly, "Have you forgotten? The woman I have feelings for is currently married."

He paused, adding, "But that's alright. Soon enough, she won't be."

Those two sentences yanked Willow sharply back to reality. She finally snapped out of her daze. How could she have forgotten?

Right, he already had someone in his heart. And the way his face softened with affection when he mentioned this mysterious woman made it entirely clear.
