Julian completely ignored her question, repeating his demand like a broken record. "Where is Vivienne?"
"Vivienne?" Susannah was taken aback by his freezing tone. "She had a live interview today, remember? She left early this morning. I was just watching the broadcast! She was absolutely brilliant. So articulate and commanding. The internet is singing her praises, and Sinclair Group's stock is already skyrocketing because of it!"
Whenever the topic of Vivienne came up, Susannah simply couldn't hide her pride. She rambled on, practically glowing. "Everyone is talking about how talented and successful she is! She's miles ahead of those spoiled rich girls in our social circle! You really ought to give her the praise she deserves—"
"Enough." Julian cut off her endless chatter. There was no joy in his expression, only a dark, simmering fury.
He couldn't be bothered to waste another breath on her. Spinning on his heel, he marched toward his second-floor study, tossing a final order over his shoulder. "Tell her to report to my study the exact second she walks through that door."
Susannah stared at his retreating back, utterly bewildered. "Have you lost your mind?" she muttered to herself. "Vivienne is making the family look incredible and boosting our stock prices. What on earth do you have to be mad about?"
Across town, having just wrapped up her exclusive interview, Vivienne was relaxing in the studio's green room.
She checked her phone and saw a text from Susannah, letting her know that Julian was waiting for her at home and wanted her back immediately.
A surge of sweet anticipation flooded Vivienne's chest at the message.
She immediately assumed that her performance on camera had been so spectacular, so impactful, that Julian had watched the broadcast and was waiting at home to congratulate her on her brilliant triumph.
She smiled the entire drive back, completely unable to contain her euphoria.
But the moment she stepped through the front doors of the estate, she sensed the oppressive, dead silence hanging in the air. The atmosphere was suffocating.
