Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 567

Vivienne's tense shoulders slumped. Her masquerade had collapsed entirely. Dropping her hand, she looked away in defeat and gave a slow nod. "Yes," she rasped out. "I knew. But I only found out by accident."

"Then why didn't you tell me?" Julian demanded furiously. "You knew the whole truth, yet you didn't say a single word. Were you just enjoying watching me play the fool?"

Faced with his interrogation, Vivienne snapped her head up. The panic in her eyes vanished, replaced by a stinging bitterness. She glared right back at him. "Why should I have told you? What would knowing have changed?"

"It would have changed everything," Julian growled. If he had known sooner, he never would have let the situation spiral out of control. He never would have given the two of them the chance to get close. And he absolutely never would have agreed to divorce Willow.

He didn't say that last part out loud, burying the confession in heavy silence.

But Vivienne knew him better than anyone. How could she not see right through him?

Watching the subtle shifts in his expression, it felt as though a knife had been violently twisted into her chest. A bitter, self-deprecating smile twisted her lips.

She had known all along that if Julian found out about Silas's feelings for Willow, he would only become more stubborn, more fiercely determined never to sign those divorce papers. That was exactly why she had chosen to keep her mouth shut.

"If you had known earlier, you never would have agreed to divorce her, would you?" Vivienne spat out, throwing caution to the wind.

Called out on his true motives, Julian didn't even bother denying it. "Yes. I will not divorce Willow. I made that entirely clear to you from the very beginning."

"But we are talking about your actions right now," he fired back. "Why did you hide the truth? Why did you let me make a fool of myself?"
