Three Years Forgotten, Why Go Crazy When I Say Goodbye? novel Chapter 609

"You've been helping me all along, haven't you?" she asked softly. "From the moment I arrived in Seattle and landed my very first deal. Then, when my mom got sick—the elite medical specialists and the perfectly arranged treatments. Then you specifically recruited me into Merit Biotech and personally transferred from Seattle to New York... Every single bit of that was for me, wasn't it?"

Caught red-handed, Silas looked momentarily guilty. He instantly dropped his pride, ducking his head in apology. "Yes. I orchestrated all of it. I'm sorry I kept it from you. Please believe me, I didn't want to deceive you. We were just operating in two completely different worlds back then. When you first met me, you were so guarded. You instinctively feared me and avoided me. I didn't dare push into your space, terrified that getting too close would scare you off permanently."

He paused, swallowing nervously. For the first time, the imposing billionaire sounded painfully insecure. "And... I'm much older than you. That age gap is always there. I've never cared about anyone's opinion, but when it came to you, I never felt like I was enough."

Willow couldn't help but laugh out loud, the unshed tears making her eyes sparkle brilliantly. "You? Insecure? Silas, look at you. Your background, your power, your character, your face... you are at the absolute peak of the pyramid. Anyone would fall head over heels for a man like you. Why on earth would you be insecure?"

"That's how outsiders see me," Silas replied, bringing his forehead back to rest against hers. Their breaths tangled in the small space between them. His dark eyes locked onto hers, holding nothing but absolute devotion. "When dealing with insignificant people, I'm perfectly poised. I control the board. But when faced with the woman I love down to my marrow, even the most powerful man in the world becomes a nervous, terrified wreck, dreading the thought of losing her."

With that, he lowered his head and gently claimed her lips. It was a soft, coaxing kiss, deeply romantic and entirely devoid of his usual commanding presence.

Every last bit of tension evaporated from Willow's body. Closing her eyes, she yielded to him, wrapping her arms around his broad neck. They held each other fiercely, the silent room charged with the intoxicating weight of three years of repressed desire.

After a long, breath-stealing embrace, Silas hovered just over her swollen lips. His breathing was heavy, yet his voice was laced with an agonizing amount of restraint and reverence. "Are you absolutely sure we can do this tonight?"

He was terrified she was just getting caught up in the emotion of the moment. He feared she might still be chained to the shadows of her past, refusing to push her into something she wasn't fully ready for.

Willow slowly opened her misty eyes. Staring up at the man who had loved her from afar for three agonizing years, she gave a firm, undeniable nod.
