That single sentence utterly annihilated his entire world.
Julian's composure imploded completely. A monstrous wave of rage, tangled with the humiliating reality of being manipulated and played for a fool, crashed over him. His chest heaved violently, his bloodshot eyes taking on a demonic glare.
Not saying a word, he crushed the report in his fist. Suddenly, he threw a devastating punch straight into the marble wall beside him.
A sickening thud echoed through the corridor.
The skin on his knuckles instantly split open, and blood began to steadily drip down his fingers, splattering onto the pristine floor in a gruesome display of violence.
Startled out of her wits, Susannah tore the crumpled paper from his bleeding hand. One glance at the bolded text sent all the blood rushing to her head. She let out a horrifying shriek.
Her face turned ghostly pale. Staggering backward, she leaned against the wall for support, her voice quivering hysterically. "No biological relation... how... how is this possible? What on earth is going on?"
Julian let his bloody hand drop to his side, his eyes burning with lethal hatred. "What do you think is going on? Our entire family has been played like a bunch of idiots by Vivienne Sinclair! This precious little prince that we've worshiped and pampered for three years isn't my son! He's just some bastard she had with another man!"
The word "bastard" hit Susannah like a sledgehammer to the chest.
She trembled uncontrollably, shaking her head as her mind completely rejected the truth. Her eyes red with madness, she screamed, "Impossible! It's impossible! How could she? How dare she deceive the Sinclair family? Where is she?! I demand to see her! I will confront her face-to-face!"
"See her?" Julian let out a dark, deranged laugh. He was well past the point of sanity. "She's already locked up. Academic fraud, corporate espionage—she's facing multiple federal charges. She's sitting in the Metropolitan Detention Center right now, waiting for her sentencing."
Hearing that Vivienne was in prison didn't spark a single ounce of pity in Susannah. Instead, sheer terror seized her. If Vivienne was truly a criminal mastermind, then the DNA test was unequivocally real.
A violent wave of dizziness hit her, her knees buckling.
She thought back to three years ago when Toby was born. Discovering he was the eldest Sinclair heir, she had been ecstatic, throwing a lavish full-moon banquet to broadcast the news to all of New York's high society. She thought about how, for the past three years, she had bent over backward to tolerate Vivienne's vanity, arrogance, and bottomless greed—all for the sake of the Sinclair bloodline. She had turned a blind eye to the millions Vivienne squandered and the chaos she caused, simply because she had birthed the precious heir.
And now, she was being told that this golden grandchild, whom she had poured all her love into, had absolutely nothing to do with their family? He wasn't Julian's child?
