Leaving the hospital, Julian made a single phone call. "Use every resource we have to investigate Vivienne. I want everything from her overseas life over the past ten years, her social circle, to her academic records. Leave no stone unturned."
He had never suspected her before, but now that he had a target, he was more ruthless than anyone else.
His team worked with staggering efficiency. In just a few hours, a massive dossier of investigation files, high-definition chat logs, and even witness testimonies were delivered to Julian's office. In stark black and white, the irrefutable evidence tore Vivienne's meticulously crafted perfect facade to shreds.
Julian traced his fingertips over the glaring words in the file, the last trace of warmth in his eyes extinguishing. He grabbed his keys and drove straight to the Metropolitan Detention Center on the outskirts of the city.
Upon arrival, the heavy, cold iron doors slowly opened. Instantly, a suffocating wave of disinfectant mixed with the damp stench of mold washed over him.
Through a layer of reinforced glass, Julian saw Vivienne.
She had long lost her former elegance. Her hair was dry, matted, and disheveled, and her designer clothes were torn to rags, covered in grime and dust. Bruises and purplish marks covered her arms, neck, and cheeks. It was a wretched sight.
Without a single trace of her former pride as a wealthy socialite, she looked like a dying animal trapped in the mud.
It was obvious she was living a nightmare in here.
Yet, seeing her like this evoked no sympathy in Julian. His eyes were filled with nothing but pure hatred.
When Vivienne saw him approaching, wild ecstasy erupted in her deadened eyes, as if she had grabbed her final lifeline. She threw herself at the glass, slapping the cold surface desperately with both hands as she sobbed, "Julian, you're finally here! You're here to save me, right? Please get me out of here, I can't stay another second! Everyone here targets me, they beat me... I'm being driven to the edge!"
