Three years of loving him, three days to erase myself from his world novel Chapter 224

Bringing up Chase only poured gas on Alistair's raging fire. His face turned a deep, furious crimson as he pointed an accusing finger at Miriam and snarled.

"You're still defending that animal! I absolutely refuse to believe you were oblivious to what he's been doing all these years! I've been drowning in work, with no time to keep him in line, but you knew exactly what he was up to in the shadows, and you coddled him! Your spoiling ruined him. He deserves every single thing that's happening to him today!"

Miriam stood completely paralyzed, stunned into silence.

She had indeed enabled Chase over the years. Because his health had always been fragile as a child, she figured as long as he didn't cross any major lines, she would protect him.

Was that really so wrong?

Miriam refused to back down. "I don't care! I will never back down when it comes to Chase! You are his father! His own flesh and blood! You have to fix this!"

Seeing her sheer obstinance, Alistair roared at the top of his lungs, "Fix this? How the hell am I supposed to fix this?! All the filthy secrets he and Cassandra have been hiding have just been laid bare. If this goes to court, I will lose everything I've built!"

Cassandra froze, dropping her head as sheer panic set in...

Miriam's face drained of color, rendering her completely speechless. Her legs finally gave out, and she collapsed heavily onto the floor, murmuring in a daze, "Is it really that bad... So my son's entire future is just completely destroyed for nothing?"

Alistair glared at both of them, thoroughly disgusted by their foolishness, and let out a heavy, defeated sigh.

Dominic stood quietly to the side, observing the fallout for a brief moment. A faint, mocking smirk played on his lips. He gave Alistair a curt nod and walked out.

The absolute second the heavy doors clicked shut behind him, agonizing wails and mournful sobs echoed throughout the room.

"..."

Dominic's face was completely devoid of emotion. He strode out of the courtyard, slid into the waiting Maybach, and immediately ordered Toby to head to the police station.

Toby glanced in the rearview mirror, noticing his boss's calm demeanor. Figuring the matter was successfully resolved, he pulled into traffic. Thinking of what had just transpired, he couldn't help but add, "Julian couldn't resolve the situation and left. I'm not sure where he went."
