Hearing those words, Clara's heart grew even colder.
In his eyes, she was seemingly unworthy of everything—unworthy of love, unworthy of anything good, entirely detached from anything of value.
Today, she finally saw him for who he truly was!
Clara angrily yanked her hand free. With a cold scoff, she declared, "Listen to me, Julian. The ones who need to get the hell out of here today aren't me. It's you!"
Who 'you' referred to went without saying.
Julian's expression instantly darkened, his gaze turning predatory and terrifying.
Nearby, Seraphina watched the exchange, her face draining of color. A sudden, ominous premonition washed over her.
The executives were equally stunned. One of them recovered his wits first and asked, "Miss, you couldn't possibly be... the person Professor Thorne selected, could you?"
Ignoring Julian completely, Clara looked at the group and offered a polite smile. "I am Professor Thorne's student, Clara Vance."
The executives gasped in murmurs. "Isn't Leo Miller Professor Thorne's student?"
"Exactly. Is she making this up?"
"Wow..."
"..."
Recovering slowly from her shock, Seraphina stared at Clara, her brow furrowed. She still found it absurd.
She raised her voice. "Clara, stop trying to fool everyone! You are absolutely not Professor Thorne's student!"
Then, turning to the executives, she added, "Please, no one believe her. I've visited Professor Thorne several times. He only has one student, Leo Miller. This Clara person is clearly an imposter!"
Hearing this, the executives exchanged varied looks before silently reaching a verdict.
No one had ever heard of this Clara Vance before; she was probably a fake.
Seraphina was different. She had Julian Lowell backing her—that was solid reality!
"Ms. Vance, is it? This is an official competition. Please leave and stop causing trouble here!"
Seraphina's lips curled into a smirk.
Clara pressed her lips together, just about to explain.
The conference room door was suddenly pushed open again.
Leo Miller, wearing a sharply tailored suit, walked in slowly. His voice was steady as he announced, "I am here to prove that Clara is Professor Thorne's student. Is my word qualification enough?"
"Mr. Miller!" The executives were dumbfounded.
