The bodyguards in the room respectfully greeted Dominic as he entered.

"Mr. Jarrett."

Dominic narrowed his eyes at Zane.

Catching the cue, a bodyguard grabbed a bottle of ice water from the table and poured it over Zane's head.

"Ah!" Zane jolted awake, gasping heavily for air. Instinctively, he began pleading, "Please, let me go, I'll pay you back! I swear, my sister's identity isn't simple. Her boyfriend is Julian Lowell—the Julian from Lowell Industries! He has tons of money. Let me go, and I'll go get the cash from him right now!"

Toby frowned and stole a glance at Dominic, whose expression was darker than a thunderstorm. Toby's heart sank; he guessed Zane was entirely screwed today.

Dominic didn't get angry; instead, he laughed. "And who exactly is this sister of yours?"

Thinking there was a glimmer of hope, Zane struggled to open his bruised, swollen eyes to look at the man, ready to speak.

But before the words could leave his mouth, he recognized the familiar face. He immediately lost his voice, his face turning completely white with terror.

He finally realized what was happening.

"Mr... Mr. Jarrett..."

Dominic smiled. His large, well-tailored hand patted Zane's shoulder, each tap feeling as though it could crush the bone.

"Why so nervous? You didn't say anything wrong."

Zane's shoulders shrank back, his throat feeling as though it had been clamped shut. If he still hadn't figured out the situation by now, he'd be an absolute idiot.

"No, Mr. Jarrett, I misspoke! I misspoke! I shouldn't have lied to you..."

Dominic arched an eyebrow, his grip suddenly tightening on Zane's shoulder, a deadly cold smile spreading across his face.

"Oh? And what exactly did you lie to me about?"

"Ah!"

Zane shrieked in agony, regretting with every fiber of his being that he had ever tried to deceive Dominic.

Where the hell did he get the nerve to try and con Dominic Jarrett?!

"I'm sorry, Mr. Jarrett! I'll tell you the truth now! I'll tell you everything I know!"

A chilling light flickered in Dominic's eyes. He finally released his grip and spat out a single word, "Speak."
