Clara scrolled through the comments expressionlessly, her face devoid of color. It was incredibly humiliating. Each word felt like a cold, stinging slap to her face.
Her reputation, her honor... dragged through the mud in a matter of hours.
And as for the person who orchestrated all of this.
Clara didn't even need to think; she knew it was Julian. He doted on Seraphina so much, there was no way he would just stand by and watch.
Clara tightly shut her eyes, her hand trembling so badly she could barely hold the phone.
Suddenly, she remembered all the tender moments he had shown her last night and this morning.
How could someone be such a flawless liar?
Clara felt a wave of profound sorrow.
Her heart, which had just barely begun to heal, felt as though a massive, heavy boulder was crushing it again, suffocating her in agony.
Seeing her like this, Marcus sighed softly and handed her a tissue.
"Clara, pull yourself together. To the other side, this negative publicity might look like a victory, but when the competition starts the day after tomorrow, you'll show them your true talent!"
"When the time comes, everyone will see the truth!"
Clara took the tissue.
Truthfully, she wasn't crying. Even though it hurt, she had long decided she wouldn't shed another tear for Julian.
But right now, hearing her professor's comforting words, her tears uncontrollably spilled over.
She wiped them away with the tissue, her throat tight. "...Yes, thank you, Professor."
Marcus patted her shoulder and asked out of concern.
"What is the current situation between you and Julian?"
Clara pinched the tissue between her fingers. "He doesn't love me, but because of his reputation, he refuses to agree to a breakup and keeps pestering me. But I don't think he'll bother me anymore after today."
Marcus nodded in understanding. Without prying into the specific details, he simply said,
"If you need anything, contact me or Leo."
"I will."
With the personal matters out of the way, the two shifted to business.
