Trying to reason with these people was clearly the most idiotic approach!
Once the competition was over, her score would be the ultimate slap in their faces!
Seraphina Shaw wasn't convinced. She crossed her arms, walked over to the adjacent station, and threw out another remark.
"Let's not push it, guys. If the person backing Clara finds out, we'll all be in trouble!"
The others curled their lips in disdain.
Clara Vance's jaw was tight. She kept her expression blank and said nothing.
A moment later, a staff member brought over a small crate and began distributing the raw materials to the contestants one by one.
"Ms. Shaw, this one is yours! Hold onto it tightly." Gillian, the staff member, smiled warmly as she handed a box to Seraphina.
The two exchanged a knowing look.
Seraphina smiled. "Thank you."
"You're welcome!"
Gillian turned around and offered the next box to Clara, still wearing that bright smile. "Ms. Vance."
Clara offered a polite smile and reached out to take it without any hesitation. "Thank you."
But the moment her fingers grazed the edge of the box, Gillian let go. With a loud clatter, the box slammed onto the table.
Clara froze for half a second. Before she could even get a word out...
Gillian immediately started shifting the blame.
"Ms. Vance, why did you let go of the box?! The glass gems inside are definitely shattered now!"
Clara was momentarily speechless, finding the entire situation absurd. "I..."
"You knew there were no backups, yet you dropped it on purpose! What exactly are you plotting?!"
Gillian cried out defensively. Her eyes were red, looking every bit like the victim of a bully.
Clara furrowed her brows.
"What is going on now?" Chloe, the host, marched over with a sour tone, shooting Clara an icy glare. What a troublemaker!
Gillian looked down, wiping away her tears, and whimpered out an explanation of what had just happened...
The other contestants, already prejudiced against Clara from the earlier drama, instantly assumed Clara had done it on purpose. They figured she was just trying to stall for time so whoever was backing her could draft a new design for her to copy.
"It's not the staff's fault. We all saw it clearly. Clara fumbled it and dropped it herself!"
"Exactly! We're all adults here. She needs to take responsibility for her own mistakes. The competition must go on. We can't delay things just for her!"
"..."
Everyone rallied behind the staff member.
