Sylvia was struck dumb, then indignantly defended her daughter.
"But she set Sera up! Sera was almost ruined..."
Julian's tone turned even colder. "Do you have evidence? What proof do you have that Clara was the one who set her up? It's entirely possible that Harvey Crane was just acting on his own lust!"
Sylvia was instantly speechless.
Seraphina was stunned as well. She never expected him to defend Clara like this.
In the past, whenever she was bullied, he would never say such things. He wouldn't spare a single person involved.
Resentful but too afraid to push her luck, she shot her mother a warning look.
Seeing the signal, Sylvia could only press her lips together in silence.
"You hold her," Julian said coldly. He released his grip, letting Sylvia take Seraphina.
Both Sylvia and Seraphina froze.
Seraphina, in particular, hadn't expected him to suddenly let go of her. A deep wave of disappointment washed over her...
But seeing his dark expression, they didn't dare disobey.
Sylvia stepped forward and pulled her daughter into her arms.
Just then, the elevator arrived.
Julian adjusted his slightly wrinkled suit and casually dropped a sentence, "You two go to the car first."
He then stepped out of the elevator, pulling his phone from his pocket to make a call.
Watching him leave, Sylvia suddenly felt a pang of unease.
She worriedly asked her daughter, "Julian seems to have changed a lot. He doesn't pamper you like he used to..."
Seraphina naturally felt it too, biting her lip in grievance.
But she would never admit that the man who had doted on her so much had a change of heart.
Watching his retreating figure, she said stubbornly, "No he hasn't, he treats me very well! Today was just a special circumstance. You really shouldn't have hit Clara like that... Anyway, let's not talk about it. Just be careful next time. Let's go to the car first."
Ever since her daughter grew up, Sylvia listened to her about everything. Hearing this, she didn't overthink it. After all, Julian used to spoil her daughter rotten.
"Alright."
"By the way, Mom, you squared everything away with Harvey Crane beforehand, right?"
"Yes, it's all settled. He will absolutely not sell you out."
"That's good." Seraphina felt relieved.
What they didn't know yet was that Clara had already called the police!
Harvey wasn't going up against just anyone; he was dealing with the cops.
