Chapter 3
He’d already walked off-couldn’t even wait a second, he was that desperate.
Watching his hurried figure disappear, my heart felt bitter and raw.
I followed behind him, hiding behind a large tree, and witnessed Daniel and Sophia going at it on the grass.
Daniel pulled out a sexy lingerie set, and Sophia giggled that she wanted him to put it on her himself.
The two of them were shameless, laughing and moaning as they started doing unspeakable things.
Daniel kept making out with Sophia, saying the rough grass against their skin only turned him on more.
Sophia laughed and bit his ear: “Life’s about new experiences, right? Isn’t this rush incredible?”
“You’re terrible!”
“Hahaha, that idiot has no clue what we’re doing behind her back right now. She’s just standing there like a guard dog, protecting our little love
nest.”
“You’re so bad, Daniel! Making all these crazy demands. If Zelda ever found out, you’d be screwed.”
“Oh please! You’d never want that-if something happened to me, you’d lose all this fun.”
I stood frozen, my face a mask of disbelief.
Hearing them talk and actually seeing Daniel cheat-that kind of pain is something no one else can understand.
“Alright, we need to hurry up. Zelda’s waiting for me.”
“No way, I’m not done playing yet.”
I’d never seen Daniel so obsessed with anyone else before.
I couldn’t watch anymore. I turned to leave.
My mind was spinning, and I misstepped, tumbling down the mountainside. Thank God my reflexes kicked in-I managed to grab onto a vine.
I screamed up at them for help, hoping Daniel would hear me and pull me up.
I shouted until my throat was raw, but no one answered. So I gritted my teeth, holding onto the vine with one hand while pulling out my phone
with the other to call Daniel.
I called dozens of times with no answer. He was still lost in his little fantasy world.
Finally, when I was losing hope, he picked up-but his voice was full of annoyance.
“Zelda, I’m still out here, alright? Stop calling and bothering me. My stomach’s killing me.”
“Must have eaten something bad last night.”
I didn’t waste time with small talk. I told him to come save me immediately-that I was about to fall off the mountain.

Daniel’s response was completely indifferent.
“Come on, don’t be so dramatic. This mountain isn’t even that steep. You city girls are such drama queens.”
I couldn’t hold on anymore. The vine snapped, and I went tumbling down the mountainside, rolling over and over for what felt like forever before slamming into some rocks. My leg was covered in blood, and the pain almost made me pass out.
I realized my phone was still connected to the call. I could hear Daniel and Sophia’s moaning and panting through the speaker. He’d heard my screams, my cries for help-and he didn’t give a damn.
Between love and lust, he’d chosen lust.
In that moment, I finally closed my eyes, my face drained of all emotion, letting go of whatever feelings I had left for him.
