Chapter 6
“For TWO YEARS! Two fucking years!”
Nathan just stood there, pathetic and pleading.
The woman who caught him cheating was his wife’s best friend.
What would everyone think of his wife now?
“Reachel, please. This is all my fault. Just… don’t tell her. Please.”
“I swear I’ll never-”
“Too late for that.”
Nathan grabbed her wrist again. “It’s not too late. If you just don’t say anything.”
“Xenia was WITH ME that night. When we caught you.”
Nathan’s grip went slack. His whole body went rigid.
“W-what?”
Rachel’s eyes were sharp as knives.
“Xenia saw you first. But she couldn’t handle watching her husband screw another woman. So she didn’t go over.”
“Can you imagine how humiliating that is?”
“I kept telling her about all the times I busted people hooking up in cars. She knew. She just didn’t know it was YOU.”
“But surprise-it was. Her loving husband!”
If Nathan weren’t my husband, Rachel might have beaten him right there.
“Stop. Stop talking!”
Then something clicked. He looked up at her, eyes wild.
“Wait. You said Xenia sent you?”
If Xenia already knew everything, why didn’t she come confront him herself?
Why send Rachel?
A wave of pure terror washed over him.
Like he’d just lost the most important thing in his life.
Rachel’s face was stone cold. She pulled out the gift I’d told her to bring.
Nathan snatched it from her hands and ripped it open.

Sex photos of him and Leila. In every position imaginable.
That was it.
There was no coming back from this.
Nathan collapsed. His legs gave out completely.
Tears hit the floor before he could even speak.
Rachel slapped him hard across the face, then turned to leave.
Nathan scrambled forward on his knees.
“Wait-where is she? Where’s Xenia?!”
“I need to apologize to her in person!”
“I don’t know. And even if I did, I wouldn’t tell you.”
“She just told me to give you the photos-”
Before she could finish, Nathan shoved himself up and bolted out the door.
He ran to NYPD. The second he saw my captain, he rushed over.
“Excuse me! I remember you. You’re my wife’s boss.”
“Where’s Xenia? I need to see her. Please.”
The captain smiled faintly, then sighed.
“I’d like to see her too.”
“She was about to get promoted tomorrow. And then she just… quit at the last minute.”
“You’re her husband, right? If you can reach her, tell her to reconsider.”
