Through the video call, the toddler caught a glimpse of the photo and shrieked, "So scary! It's so ugly! What kind of monster is that? Throw it away! Daddy-Brother-in-law, throw it away! I'm scared!"
Yvette didn't bother to correct him.
Rage flared in Dr. Zimmerman's chest. She was well aware of the history between Nova and Yvette, thanks to Chloe.
How dare Yvette act so high and mighty now?
While Nova was pregnant, Yvette had proudly paraded around as the other woman. Why didn't she take responsibility for her own toxic actions then?
"Mr. Forrester..." Dr. Zimmerman pinned all her desperate hopes on him.
Out of nowhere, he asked, "How big is a four-month-old fetus?"
She instantly remembered that when Kieran had pushed Nova, she was a little over four months along.
"Visibly smaller than this. Zero chance of survival," she answered anxiously.
Tristan stood up, his fingertip brushing lightly over the photo. "Did you bring the blood draw equipment?"
Her eyes lit up. "I did!"
She immediately signaled her assistant to bring the kit inside.
Yvette frowned, offering up her rational advice. "Tristan, your health comes first. You've been exhausted lately, and this preemie has almost no shot at surviving anyway."
He shot her a placating look. "It's fine."
Yvette bit her tongue.
A nagging sense of insecurity gnawed at her. She suspected he was only agreeing to this because it reminded him of the baby Nova had supposedly lost.
On the screen, the toddler piped up again. "I hate that baby! Why is Daddy-Brother-in-law giving his blood away?"
