"I decide when we divorce."
The words were aimed directly at Nova, completely authoritative and leaving zero room for negotiation.
Forget Nova—even Abdul was taken aback. Just as the older man opened his mouth to protest, Tristan cut him off. "I have my own plans, Abdul."
With that, he stood up and headed straight upstairs without another word.
Abdul looked back at Nova. If they were just an ordinary family, having a docile and obedient granddaughter-in-law like her wouldn't be a bad thing.
But...
"You need to put more effort into Tristan. Show him you care, serve him well, and be considerate. Weren't you doing a good job before? Doing the laundry, cooking, and taking care of him. Why are you being so foolish these past few days? Throwing such a massive fit of jealousy just because of Yvette? Men hate excessively jealous women, especially someone with Tristan's temperament."
He had just agreed she should get a divorce, acknowledging Yvette's existence in the same breath, and now he was telling her to put effort into Tristan.
"What exactly is the point of me doing that, Abdul?" Nova couldn't help but ask.
It was all just for the sake of 'keeping the peace,' operating on the assumption that her dignity wasn't worth a dime.
But what Nova truly couldn't understand was why Tristan insisted she give birth when he despised her so much and clearly didn't even care about the baby.
It certainly wasn't some hidden, unrealized love!
Abdul never expected the usually meek Nova to show this side of herself. She had dropped the 'Grandpa' title and was now actively talking back?
Feeling a surge of annoyance, the old man stood up to leave.
Before walking out, he left her with a cold warning. "Don't leave the house for the time being. We'll talk after you safely deliver the baby. The child in your belly carries Forrester blood. Absolutely nothing can go wrong with it!"
The door shut behind him. Nova tilted her head up, staring out at the pitch-black night through the window.
She didn't notice the man standing by the second-floor railing, watching her just as intently.
Eventually, his gaze drifted down to her stomach.
"Nothing can happen to the child she's carrying. Do you understand what I mean?"
Yasmin stopped talking.
Martha finally realized the time; they had completely ignored Nova's breakfast.
Though Tristan disliked Nova, this was technically a dereliction of duty on the staff's part. Martha quickly covered her tracks. "We took it up, but she refuses to eat. She's just lying in bed, not moving a muscle. The Madam's temper is out of control; you won't find anyone in the entire household throwing such tantrums! She thinks being pregnant means she can do whatever she wants!"
Tristan's face darkened as he wiped his hands with a napkin. "Then let her starve for a couple of meals. She won't eat until her little tantrum is over and she admits she was wrong."
He tossed the napkin onto the table, his appetite completely ruined.
He gestured to Yasmin. "Proceed with your ideas."
Yasmin smiled and nodded.
Martha hesitated slightly. "Is it safe to starve a pregnant woman for two meals?"
Tristan paused mid-step and cast a cold glance upstairs. "If she doesn't care enough to look after her own health or the baby in her womb, that's her problem."
