Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 34

Listening to those vicious, blood-curdling words, Nova slowly raised her hand and pressed it against her stomach.

But... the babies were gone.

The twins had been killed when the love of his life, Yvette, rammed her car into hers.

Her phone rang. Nova picked it up, and Samuel's voice came through the speaker. "Nova, please don't be upset about what I'm about to say... I sent teams to search every trash disposal and recycling center in the city, but we couldn't find the urn. The babies' ashes have already been disposed of."

He tried to comfort her, laying out the logical facts. "This isn't your fault. A lot of women suffer from memory lapses after a traumatic miscarriage. Not to mention, Tristan's mother intentionally provoked you that day. You were emotionally overwhelmed; it's completely understandable that you forgot to bring the urn with you. This is entirely Tristan's fault. Even if it was an item left behind by a complete stranger, it shouldn't have been treated like garbage. He is the root of all of this."

Even though Nova had mentally prepared herself for the worst, hearing that the urn was lost forever, tossed out with the trash, still sent a piercing, uncontrollable ache through her heart.

She fought desperately to suppress her emotions and asked, "Samuel, once I complete this current project, will my net worth cross the hundred-million mark?"

Samuel answered without a second of hesitation, "Easily. Way more than that."

Nova felt a fraction of peace settle over her. On her way to the office, she recounted the events of last night and this morning to Samuel.

When Samuel heard Tristan's demand that Nova carry the baby to term, he fell silent for a moment.

"Don't worry. I've already submitted an application for an overseas government research project for you. Once you crush this current project, you'll be on a flight out of the country in three months. With the government backing you, absolutely no one will be able to touch you. As for the money you want to pay back, that won't be an issue at all."

Nova's mind gradually cleared. She understood more than ever that depending on anyone else was useless; she could only rely on herself...

On the day of the banquet, Yvette's grand appearance instantly dominated every major news headline.

'Mr. Forrester Spends Fortunes for a Lifelong Promise to Goddess Yvette,' 'The Business Emperor Joins Forces with the Queen of Tech; Forrester Group Stocks Skyrocket,' 'The Forrester Family Welcomes Their Future Matriarch'...

Even if Nova actively avoided looking, the push notifications flooded her phone screen, forcing the news right in front of her eyes.

Her face devoid of any emotion, she locked her screen and looked toward the center of the ballroom.

Yvette, supported gently by those around her, walked up to stand right beside Tristan. The two of them looked sickeningly perfect together.

It was practically set in stone that Yvette would become the next Mrs. Forrester.

Nova couldn't see Tristan's face clearly, but seeing how intimately Yvette clung to his arm, she assumed he must be overjoyed.

The moment Samuel entered the venue, his eyes locked straight onto Nova. As Tristan's executive assistant, she was strictly required to be on duty at the event. But seeing her like this...

Suppressing the raging fury in his chest, Samuel shot a dark glare at the Forrester family.

Felipa smiled brightly and said, "Dad, you truly have incredible influence to get Professor Mathew to attend."

Abdul, with Yvette rushing over to support his arm, chuckled warmly. "Oh, it's all because our Yvette is so capable and talented. Otherwise, even if I sent an invitation, I wouldn't have a good enough reason to bring him here. Your offer letter from CN Dynamics hasn't officially arrived yet, has it? We'll take this perfect opportunity to announce your new position at CN Dynamics, and simultaneously announce that Professor Mathew is taking you on as his final protégé! A double celebration!"

Yvette smiled, looking the picture of humble grace. "Thank you."

Abdul then turned to introduce her to Professor Mathew. "This is Tristan's fiancée, Yvette Sellers."

Watching this entire spectacle, Nova found it utterly absurd. But as she averted her eyes, she unexpectedly met Tristan's gaze. Across a sea of new money, tech moguls, academic elites, and aristocratic titans, he stared at her from afar, refusing to look away.

It was the first time he had ever looked at her like that.

Until a male voice suddenly sneered in her ear:
