When she loved Tristan, she had given everything without reservation. But now that she was done loving him, why should she continue to suffer these indignities?
Felipa never expected Nova to possess such a spine. Was she acting this bold because she had Belinda backing her and a baby in her belly?
Blinded by sudden rage, Felipa raised her hand, ready to slap Nova across the face.
Just then, a voice echoed from outside. "Grandma."
It was Tristan's steady, unruffled voice. To Felipa, it was like a lifeline. She immediately dropped her hand and rushed out, abandoning Nova.
A maid handed Nova a fruit platter, gesturing for her to carry it out as well. Nova didn't even glance at it; she simply turned and walked out of the kitchen empty-handed.
She ran straight into Tristan.
Because they had been together for so long, and because she had loved him so deeply, she could instantly sense that he was in a foul mood.
It made sense. He had been in the middle of a passionate encounter with Yvette in his office, only to be interrupted halfway through and dragged back home. Naturally, he was irritated.
While Nova was connecting the dots, Belinda's sharp voice cut through the room. "Why didn't you answer Nova's calls?!"
Tristan didn't answer immediately. His eyes locked onto Nova.
Catching the icy glint in his gaze, Nova understood immediately—he thought she had complained to his grandmother.
Thinking of what he had done to her father, and seeing his freezing hostility now, a careless, indifferent smile touched Nova's lips.
Tristan withdrew his gaze and replied flatly, "I was busy."
Was a man actually busy, or just "busy"? Belinda had lived long enough to know the difference.
Her anger flared, though she didn't expose his lie in front of the room. "She is currently carrying your child. What if something happened to the baby? What if she was calling for help in an emergency? Would you still ignore her because you were 'busy'?!"
As soon as the words left her mouth, her breathing hitched and grew erratic. Panic swept through the family.
Tristan remained perfectly composed. He nodded to the butler to fetch the heart medication. Taking the pills, he lowered his eyes, handed them to Nova, and instructed, "Coax her into taking them."
Having caught her breath, Belinda didn't press the issue. She simply declared, "The Forrester family only has one hostess, and the only one I recognize is Nova. Tristan, do you understand?"
Nova pressed her lips together, but Tristan's response never came.
Belinda didn't actually need his answer. She grabbed Nova's hand and issued a new directive.
"Serve dinner. It's getting late. After the two of you finish eating, you'll stay the night at the Estate. I've already had the butler prepare your room. Once dinner is over, I want both of you in my study! I have something to give you!"
Nova froze.
If that were the case, didn't that mean she and Tristan would be forced to sleep in the same room?
She instinctively looked over at Tristan again.
For Yvette's sake, he was going to absolutely hate this.
