Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 65

Nova lowered her eyes, her hands clenching into tight fists. "I can play along, but I still want your lawyers handling my brother's case. I'll keep track of every cent spent on legal fees and pay you back in full. Please help me."

Truth be told, there were moments when Tristan found Nova's pragmatism quite agreeable. Like right now—her compliance and submission visibly softened his expression.

"From this moment on, you will do exactly as I say. Stop trying to outsmart me. And drop this melodramatic, victim act designed to provoke everyone else."

Nova wanted to tell him she wasn't acting.

But the words died in her throat. She knew it didn't matter what she said or how she explained it; he would never listen...

Taking a deep breath, she nodded. "Okay."

But his next words hit her like a physical blow. "You need to ensure the child in your stomach stays safe."

The child...

The memory surged back—how his mistress had hit her with a car, how she had bled, how he had ignored her desperate calls for help until it was too late and the baby lost its heartbeat. He had even ordered his men to throw away the ashes!

And now, he had the nerve to demand she keep the baby safe...

Nova's eyes instinctively grew red.

"Alright. Don't worry." Nova raised a hand, resting it over her stomach.

It was empty. There was nothing left inside.

She knew perfectly well he was only saying this for Belinda's sake.

But she had already made up her mind to get a divorce. She was completely letting go of her love for him and refused to be trapped by the ghost of a child.

Tristan withdrew his gaze, his tone flat as he reminded her, "Get in bed. Tomorrow, we move back to Clearwater Manor. From now on, I'll be coming home every night."

The implication was clear: they were going to continue playing the role of a deeply in love married couple.

Nova didn't say another word and climbed into bed.

Shortly after, Tristan got in beside her, lying down next to her.

This was only the second time they had ever shared a bed.

She had expected to toss and turn with anxiety, but she was simply too exhausted lately.

Was it Belinda?

Checking to see if they had actually made up?

Even knowing that, Nova still sat up, breaking free from his hold.

"We made it through the night. Belinda won't overthink it."

Nova got out of bed and headed for the bathroom.

From start to finish, she didn't exchange another word with him.

With her eyes downcast, she remained in silence for a while before getting dressed and heading to the secondary bathroom.

By the time she went downstairs, Tristan was already sitting with Belinda.

The family was chatting and laughing. Nova felt entirely out of place.

Just as she was trying to come up with an excuse to leave, Belinda had someone pull out the chair next to Tristan. "Nova, come sit down and have breakfast."
