This research data was incredibly precious. Tristan understood technology, so he naturally grasped the true value of what was on the table.
Yet, none of the companies under his name dealt with aerospace or algorithm modules.
There was only one explanation: he was bidding on this for Yvette. He was paving the way for her.
Yvette had run into wall after wall recently. With this data in hand, every research institute in the world would throw their doors wide open for her.
Tristan wanted to give her a completely unobstructed path to the top.
Nova took a deep breath. Just as she was about to text Professor Mathew the news, a message from him popped up on her screen.
—Get it at all costs!
The repetition of "at all costs" wasn't lost on her. She understood the weight of his words.
Her mentor was willing to drain his entire life's fortune to acquire this data.
She had never seen anything like this before. One auction item... and two blank-check bids!
Nova lowered her paddle and raised her hand instead—placing a blank-check bid!
When the auctioneer rang the bell beside his podium, the room instantly erupted into an uproar. Countless eyes zeroed in on Nova.
Everyone was speculating about who this woman was and where she came from.
She actually had the nerve to go head-to-head with Tristan! She dared to match his bid!
The auction was temporarily halted due to the simultaneous blank-check bids.
During the pause, the auctioneer announced a thirty-minute recess. Waitstaff brought out water to distribute among the attendees.
Yvette glanced at the man beside her.
His expression was a mask of indifference. He didn't even turn his head.
Pressing her lips together, Yvette found Nova's behavior completely baffling.
Did she even know what a blank-check bid meant?
Was she pulling this irrational, laughable stunt simply because she was jealous that Yvette had secured the previous item?
"I'm going to the restroom."
Standing up, Yvette couldn't even bear to look in Nova's direction.
Saying it out loud made the whole situation feel completely absurd to her.
If Nova insisted on competing with her, she should at least bring something substantial to the table.
She didn't have the looks, she lacked substance, and even her educational background couldn't hold a candle to Yvette's.
Even if Yvette wanted to view her as a rival, Nova simply didn't qualify.
A peasant trying to step on her toes.
Yvette finally understood what that felt like. She was genuinely disgusted by the whole ordeal!
"I should have my grandmother have a little chat with Belinda. All this money she's throwing around here is just Forrester money anyway," Kieran scoffed, rolling his eyes.
Yvette turned and offered him a gentle smile. "Thank you. It's difficult for Tristan to step in, considering she's the grandmother who raised him."
Kieran nodded, then asked about the restrictive clause Belinda had placed on their marriage regarding a divorce.
Yvette waved it off like it was nothing. "When you love someone as deeply as Tristan and I love each other, those trivial ceremonies and pieces of paper simply don't matter anymore."
Kieran couldn't help but admire her incredible grace and perspective.
