Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 76

She had always prioritized keeping her dignity, but that didn't mean she was obligated to passively absorb their hostility. It simply wasn't worth it.

She had said everything she needed to say last night. The money would be repaid, and she would play the part of the devoted wife when required. Beyond that, she had zero obligation to suffer their disrespect.

Furthermore—

"There's no need to act like this. You clearly despise me, and I have absolutely no desire to be stuck in a metal box with you either. I was here first."

Watching her storm out, Yvette found the entire display utterly exhausting.

What kind of stunt was she pulling now?

She wanted to say something, but seeing Tristan's stoic expression—and the fact that he hadn't even spared the woman a single glance—she decided it wasn't worth the breath. Engaging with someone acting that unhinged was beneath her.

Chuck scoffed. "She doesn't even have a job. She just follows you wherever you go, intentionally trying to get on our nerves? Or... don't tell me she managed to scam her way into a job here at CN Dynamics?"

He remembered Kieran mentioning that Professor Mathew favored her and had suggested Tristan let her quit so she could work under him.

But what could she actually do?

"Even if the old professor pulled some strings to get her in, with her skill level, she's a paper-pusher at best. She's here to print documents for real professionals. So at the end of the day, she knew you were coming to CN Dynamics and purposely followed you. Otherwise, how could it be such a massive coincidence that you got your offer yesterday, and today, here she is?"

He chuckled in amusement.

Tristan simply glanced at the floor indicator. "We're here."

He offered no comment, and Chuck dropped the subject.

To a man of his status, a woman like that was likely just an embarrassing stain on his life. Any man in his position wouldn't want to talk about it.

Chuck respected that.

The three of them walked out and headed straight for the tech division.

Before she even stepped through the doors, she could hear the excited chatter inside.

"Who doesn't know Yvette Sellers? She's a goddess in the research world!"

"Forget that, she's a goddess on the racetrack! I've seen her drive; she can go toe-to-toe with Olympic champions. She's insane at pro gaming, and she even trades stocks and funds. She's got a profile on that elite stock app—she's the only woman listed among a bunch of top-tier foreign investors!"

"Talk about being God's favorite. Gorgeous, rich, insanely smart..."

"Don't even dream about it, guys. She's Mr. Forrester's woman. The boss has incredible taste! She must be living the dream!"

Nova walked in and quietly took her seat.

Just as she was booting up her computer to dive into her work, someone tapped her on the shoulder.

"Hey, are you the new assistant? I heard you transferred over from the Forrester Group! You must know exactly how Mr. Forrester spoils Yvette. Come on, spill! Is their romance really as perfect as all the rumors say?"
