Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 77

Nova turned her head. The woman asking the question wore a lanyard that read: Tech Department, Chloe Zimmerman.

With her bright, eager eyes and textbook tech-girl demeanor, her face practically screamed, I need the gossip!

Nova averted her gaze, opened a file, and gave a small shake of her head. "I wouldn't know."

Even if she did want to engage, she had zero interest in gossiping behind people's backs.

Chloe looked visibly disappointed but assumed Nova was just playing it safe. Friendly and without an ounce of malice, she leaned in and said, "A heavyweight goddess like Yvette should have been placed directly in our department to handle the core projects. I don't know why they stuck her in one of the outer branches. But it's fine. With her skills, she'll definitely get transferred over here soon. Everyone's already planning to get on her good side. If I run into a wall on my research, I'm definitely going to ask her for help!"

Nova offered a polite nod and turned back to her work.

Chloe clicked her mouse, her tone helpful. "You should do the same. I see you haven't brought anything. Do you want to quickly order a small welcome gift online for her? I'll bring you along when I hand mine over so we can both get on her good side. Who knows, maybe we'll even get to meet a VIP like Mr. Forrester up close! Just thinking about it makes my heart race!"

Nova's fingers hovered over her keyboard.

When joining a new company, it was standard practice to try and blend in with the veteran staff, sometimes even bringing small gifts as an icebreaker.

But with Tristan paving her way, Yvette's career was not only smooth sailing, but she was practically worshipped by everyone in the office.

In the past, encountering a situation like this would have stung.

Now, she just smiled, completely indifferent. "Thank you, but I'm good."

She shifted her gaze to Chloe's monitor. "By the way, your calculation right there is wrong."

Chloe followed her finger to the screen.

She had been stuck on this exact problem for two weeks. She had asked every single person in the department, and no one could figure out where the bug was.

Knowing Yvette was arriving today, she had actually planned on asking her for a solution.

How could a nepotism-hire admin spot the error with a single glance?

Chloe dismissed it completely, resolving to just ask Yvette later.

He couldn't have been more wrong. She hadn't just stepped back into the industry—she had instantly reclaimed her throne.

He couldn't help but say, "If you had come back sooner, our company would have patented who knows how many more designs by now. Your name would absolutely be on the Forbes list. Among all those male innovators, you would undoubtedly sit at the very top."

Feeling a flash of embarrassment at the high praise, she quickly changed the subject. "How did the negotiations go?"

He nodded. "Both the Forrester Group and the Clayton Group are prepared to inject capital."

He didn't sugarcoat it. "But they're doing it entirely for Yvette. They're laying the groundwork for her. Judging by their aggression—especially Tristan's—they intend to catapult her to the absolute pinnacle of the tech world."

She had seen that coming a mile away. If he wasn't fully committed to elevating Yvette, he wouldn't have aggressively forced her into CN Dynamics, nor would he have placed a blank-check bid just to secure that rare research data for her.

"Did they attach any specific conditions?" she asked, cutting straight to the point.

"Nothing explicitly stated on paper, but the writing is on the wall. They're here for her. But beyond that, businessmen chase profit. The legacy projects you left behind are incredibly lucrative, and tech stocks are skyrocketing across the board right now. We are the industry leader nationwide. It's smart business for them to partner with us. If you're uncomfortable with it, I can reject the offers."

"Nobody says no to money," she replied calmly. She wasn't going to let emotions ruin good business.
