Tonight Her Love Ended novel Chapter 78

Forget about the massive empire Tristan controlled—even a single contract from Chuck's company was enough to make most people foam at the mouth.

She despised these men, but she definitely didn't despise their money. Moreover, she was incredibly short on cash right now.

"There is one other thing," Samuel added.

"Tristan requested a meeting with you."

"Aro?"

Samuel nodded. "Yes."

She didn't hesitate for a second. "Not interested."

He had already guessed she would say that. "Your identity remains strictly classified. But since he kept pushing the issue, I figured I'd give you a heads-up. He might try to reach out to you directly later. If you don't want to deal with him, just block his number."

She was just about to nod when a knock echoed against the door.

Yvette strolled in, her face bright with a confident, sweet smile. "Mr. Wyndham, Tristan said we can hash out the rest of the details over dinner."

Samuel checked his watch and gave a curt nod.

Yvette didn't even spare Nova a passing glance before turning on her heel and walking out.

The moment she stepped into the bullpen, her new colleagues swarmed her, practically begging for her to review their work.

When she reached the tech department, Chloe spent a good minute praising her before she couldn't hold back anymore. "Goddess Yvette, do you know our new assistant? Her name is Nova. I heard she used to work at the Forrester Group."

An assistant? Yvette hadn't realized that Nova's obsessive jealousy had driven her to shadow her all the way to CN Dynamics, like some pathetic ghost.

And to top it off, she was still just a glorified paper-pusher.

What was even the point?

"Yes, I'm aware of her," she replied with aloof indifference.

"What's her actual background? Everyone is saying she's a nepotism hire. Did she graduate with a Ph.D. from some elite school or something?"

Feeling that even speaking her name was a waste of breath, Yvette replied with a chillingly polite tone, "She spent about four or five years at the Forrester Group to land an assistant role. But considering they have dozens of assistants over there... why do you ask?"

Hearing this, Chloe's brow furrowed in deep disgust. "Seriously? She's just a washed-up admin who pulled strings to become Mr. Wyndham's assistant? She showed up late on her very first day and clearly doesn't take this job seriously at all!"

The lowest-ranking employees at CN Dynamics held master's degrees from top-tier universities, and even they were only trusted with grunt work.

An executive assistant was supposed to handle core operations.

Noticing the glare, she asked mildly, "Is there a problem?"

Chloe merely shot her a dirty look and ignored her completely.

Met with the cold shoulder, Nova simply shrugged it off, pulled out her chair, and got back to work.

As she opened her files, her phone buzzed with a text. It was from Samuel.

[Don't burn yourself out, boss. Take breaks. I'll take you out to dinner after you get off work.]

She smiled faintly.

Catching her reflection in the darkened computer screen, she paused. She typed back that she was handling it just fine.

Truth be told, she had been feeling significantly better these past few days. The only minor issue was that she felt constantly fatigued, likely from a lack of proper sleep. But more importantly, she noticed her skin was clearing up and her weight was actually dropping a bit.

Other than her stomach, which stubbornly refused to flatten out, she felt fantastic.

She decided that once her workflow stabilized, she was going to sign up for a gym membership.

Just as she relayed this thought to Samuel, she heard an exaggerated, irritated scoff from the desk beside her.
