Regardless of the situation, she absolutely refused to let the world know Tristan was her husband. It was too humiliating.
But the whispers were spreading. Other coworkers began chiming in, siding with Chloe.
If Samuel actually fired a three-year veteran employee just to protect her, it would completely shatter team morale...
Watching from a distance, Yvette's stomach twisted into knots.
She was genuinely terrified that Nova might snap and expose her marriage to Tristan.
A manipulative woman like her was probably just waiting for an excuse to drop the bomb.
She would play the victim and claim she was forced into revealing it.
Yvette's face darkened drastically.
She glanced anxiously at Tristan, only to find him standing with his hands in his pockets, completely unbothered, watching the scene unfold like a casual spectator.
Back in the center of the room, Nova met Chloe's furious gaze. "If your issue is with my competence, I can prove it to you right now without dragging anyone else down. There is a completely justifiable reason you weren't selected."
"I have an issue with your competence and your character!" Chloe fired back. "We don't tolerate mistresses here! No one wants to work with a homewrecker! It's disgusting, and stepping on other people to sleep your way to the top is pathetic. Right, everyone?"
A chorus of agreements echoed through the room.
Samuel's face was livid. He stepped forward to shut it down, but Nova held up a hand. "It's fine."
This wasn't going to end until she gave them definitive proof.
She pulled out her phone.
Just as the crowd leaned in, expecting her to open the National Marriage Registry, they saw her pull up her contacts and dial a number saved simply as: *Honey.*
She had changed the contact name just to appease Belinda.
Her heart was pounding out of her chest.
Tristan had never answered a single phone call from her. And right now, she could clearly see him standing just a few yards away.
All the color vanished from her face.
He had been standing there this entire time. He watched her get cornered and humiliated, and he didn't lift a finger.
