Chapter 149
Iris’s POV
When I woke up the next morning, my body still ached from the exhaustion of the day before. For a moment I just lay there, staring at the ceiling.
Every part of me wanted to stay in bed, hide under the blanket, and pretend the world outside didn’t exist.
I had several reasons not to go to training. My eyes were swollen from crying. My head throbbed, and frankly, I didn’t want to face anyone.
But if I stayed in this room any longer, I would drown in my own thoughts. Training would hurt, but it would at least keep me moving.
I put on my workout clothes and arranged my hair back into a messy bun. Shane and I walked to the training area in silence.
Finally, he broke it. “Chloe played a prank on me yesterday evening, and I am still pissed.”
I lifted an eyebrow at him. “A prank? How?”
He clenched his jaw. “She told me that the alpha wanted to see me at the main hall. As I got there, he was not there. When I later found her, she laughed in my face and told me it was prank and I fell for it easily.”
The dots began to connect in my head.
Shane was still talking. “I guess it’s her way to payback for shoving her at Rowan’s office.”
I didn’t tell Shane that Eric had come to see me. Chloe must have helped Eric avoid
Shane to come see me.
She really wanted me gone. I snorted internally.
Lucas stood at the edge with his arms folded like a statue. He looked at me as I approached, and his eyes narrowing slightly
I half expected him to tell me to go back to bed.
Instead, one of his eyebrows lifted slightly. “You’re here,” he said flatly.
I gave a one-shoulder shrug. “Why wouldn’t I be?”
