Zachary's phone slipped from his hand, crashing to the floor and shattering into pieces. The light in his eyes vanished instantly.
How could this be? How could this be…
He had never intended to divorce Lynette. Yet, the reality was undeniable—their divorce was finalized.
Lynette hadn't run away. She had left the Wright residence because their marriage was over.
The shock was too much for Zachary. He collapsed on the spot.
…
Meanwhile, Lynette had booked a one-way flight to Kingsbridge. This place was far from all her sadness, and she could finally focus on healing.
Having already purchased an apartment before her arrival, she could move in immediately. She had also scheduled an appointment with one of Kingsbridge's top psychologists.
After waiting the entire morning, her name was called. Once inside, the doctor asked routine questions.
"Name. Age."
"Lynette Sterling. 28."
The doctor suddenly looked up, startled. "Lynette, is that really you?"
When Lynette finally got a clear look at the doctor's face, she froze in shock. "Philip? Why are you here?"
She had thought the name sounded familiar when booking the appointment. Growing up, she had once known a neighbor named Philip Langford. But in a foreign country, she assumed it was a coincidence. She hadn't expected it to truly be him.
"Back then, my dad expanded his business overseas, and we lost touch. I never thought we'd meet again like this," Philip said.
