Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire
Chapter 143 Outsider
On Friday, Brandon called. “I’ve got tickets for the F1 race in Klamdiff this weekend.” He paused for a second, his voice and steady. “Kendra wants you to come with us. Are you in?”
Brianna had been swamped with the haute couture collection lately, barely keeping her head above water. She really n a break.
So Brianna agreed.
She pulled another late shift that night and didn’t get home until the early hours. Kendra was already asleep, the light i bedroom still on. Brianna didn’t want to bother Kendra, so she just crashed in the guest room.
The next morning, Kendra was surprised and thrilled to see her mom home again.
She clung to Brianna like a koala.
Brandon walked downstairs at a measured pace, his eyes settling calmly on Brianna-no hint of surprise, as if her prese was exactly what he expected. Brianna looked up, meeting his icy expression; she’d grown accustomed to his lack of war
Saturday morning dawned crisp and clear, the autumn air fresh and invigorating.
As the car pulled out of the neighborhood, Kendra couldn’t wait to tell her mom all about what had been happening at school.
Brandon kept one hand on the wheel, his gaze drifting to the mother and daughter in the back seat.
He wasn’t in his usual suit today. His black utility shirt had the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, revealing a slice of his pa wrist. The watch he wore was a limited edition collab, the dial designed to look like an Fl dashboard.
Brianna lingered her gaze on his wrist, remembering the first watch Brandon had given her back in their dating days. It w. racing-inspired, too. But after one heated argument, she just couldn’t take his icy indifference anymore and ended up smashing that watch to bits.
Half an hour later, they pulled up at the Klamdiff International Circuit. Even the VIP line was packed. Brandon had his pas wedged between his fingers, his other hand holding tight to Kendra.
Brianna lagged just half a step behind, watching the sunlight trace a silver outline along his shoulders and back. For a second, she felt herself drifting, lost in the moment.
Back before they got married, Brandon had once taken her to a race when he was home for break. The crowd was thick, and he’d held her hand just like this so she wouldn’t get separated. Same distance, same light. It all felt exactly like before.
“Mom, hurry up!” Kendra called, glancing back at her.
Brianna picked up her pace and shook her head, trying to clear out those random thoughts.
Once they found their seats, Brianna was just adjusting the noise-canceling setting on Kendra’s headphones when a clear, cheerful voice rang out, “Hey Kendra, nice to see you again!”
Allison was holding Kane’s hand, their fingers intertwined, her smile outshining even the autumn sun overhead. She was sporting a red-and-white jumpsuit today, with an official FI belt cinched at her waist. Every step she took made her look like a walking checkered flag.
Kane followed just half a step behind, his sunglasses pushed up on his head, his eyes twinkling with that signature charm. In his other hand, he carried a limited edition helmet model gift box.
Allison handed over the gift box. I brought this especially for you, Kendra.”

Kendra’s eyes sparkled, but she quickly snuggled into Brandon’s arms, her half-hidden rosy little face peeking out.
Brandon scooped Kendra onto his lap with one arm, taking the gift box with the other. His fingers brushed Allison’s for split second, with a polite, almost distant touch.
Brandon coaxed her softly, “It’s a limited edition helmet. Check out the number.” He flipped the box over. “007. isn’t tha
awesome?”
Kendra bit her lip shyly, her lashes fluttering. She reached out and took the box, her voice soft as she said, “Thank you, Allison.”
“When the formation lap starts, I’ll take you down to the pit area,” Allison crouched so she was eye-level with Kendra, flipping out a pit pass and pressing it into her little palm. “I’ll show you how to spot the difference between soft and hard tires, okay?”
Brandon gently ruffled Kendra’s hair and added, “Allison used to be a pro race navigator. She really knows racing inside Let her walk you through the tactics later, she’s even more of a pro than your dad.”
Kendra hugged the helmet model tight, sneaking a glance up at Allison. Allison winked at her, like she was saying, “This i just between us.”
Brianna watched with a cool detachment, feeling like she didn’t really belong-like a stranger in her own family.
The green light blinked off, and five red lights flared up and vanished in perfect sync. In a heartbeat, the engines explode to life, their roar slicing through the air like a giant axe-so loud it felt like the whole crowd’s chest was about to burst.
Brandon sprang up, arms thrown high overhead, his face lit up with a rare, genuine excitement. Allison jumped up at the same moment, her hair caught in the rush of air, flaring out like a burst of fire.
Just half a meter between them, their eyes met, grins so bright it was like sparks flying. It was a secret code only they got, born from all those moments they’d lived side by side.
The roar hammered at Brianna’s ears, leaving them buzzing. She’d never cared for high-speed thrills, and right now, the noise grated on her nerves, like a saw cutting back and forth.
She looked down and tightened Kendra’s noise-canceling headphones, but didn’t bother with her own, almost as if she needed that piercing noise to remind herself: some excitement was never hers to share. She’d always be an outsider, never able to join in.
The checkered flag dropped, and while the track was still hazy with exhaust, the champion was already decided.
In the blink of an eye, the freshly crowned champ hugged his golden trophy, vaulted over the barrier, and dove into the crowd like a wild cat.
“Luna!” The champion grinned from ear to ear, standing right in front of Allison.
Allison jumped up instantly, ignoring his sweat-soaked racing suit. She rushed forward, and he pulled her into a fierce embrace, like fire meeting fire.
He pressed the trophy into her arms, the gleaming metal mirroring her bright smile.
“Your blessing made me a champion tonight!” The racer laughed heartily, then bent down and kissed her left cheek. In the flash of cameras, the kiss was pure, blazing, and honest, not a trace of passion, but it carried more weight than any romantic
gesture.
Kane stood just a few steps away, his camera steady as he focused on the two of them. The click of the shutter was drowned out by the crowd’s screams, but his eyes were full of admiration, no hint of jealousy at all. He even gestured for them to pose again, signaling for another shot.

Allison arched an eyebrow in response, her grin even more cocky than the champion’s.
Brianna squinted, the moment pricking at her heart. Allison was a world she could never reach-unapologetically bold untamed, blazing with a wild brilliance, even her sweat seemed to sparkle with freedom. Instinctively, Brianna tuned her head to look at Brandon.
Brandon had Kendra perched high on his shoulders, letting her ride like a little queen.
Kendra waved the team flag with all her night, and Brandon laughed with her, his hair blown wild by the wind. It was like, just for a second, he was a teenager again.
Brianna lingered at the edge of the excitement, suddenly realizing she’d always be an outsider here. She was about to use t old excuse about needing to tweak some designs at the studio, but before she could even finish, a tiny hand tugged at her sleeve. “Mom, stay with me, okay?” Kendra buried her face in Brianna’s arm, her voice soft and pleading/”Can we sleep together tonight?”
Brianna couldn’t say no.
