Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 144

Chapter 144 Kane Backed Her Up

Horizon Group’s luxury line was supposed to make a splash, but it hit a brick wall in Port City.

Here, it was all about heritage. In the jewelry world, only century-old names got any respect. No matter how dazzlin newcomer was, they were just another piece of glass.

Brianna flashed her international design awards and Tevanni collab credentials, but it didn’t even get her a crack in

With no other options, she had to fly out herself.

Patsy snapped her suitcase shut. “Nothing beats showing up and putting them in their place.”

Clair accompanied them throughout, and handed Brianna a pass to the Buick family’s private polo match.

On the weekend, the polo field turned into a social event for Port City’s high society wives.

Under the sunshades, everyone was dressed head-to-toe in designer outfits, their sunglasses flashing as they gave new the once-over, like a row of moving security scanners.

As soon as Brianna and Patsy walked in, they were instantly pegged as “unknown nouveau riche,” and the ladies didn’t spare them a glance.

Clair, used to this scene, whispered. “Don’t mind them. They’ve got exclusion down to an art.”

Mrs. Buick’s rest area was tucked away at the far end, shaded by an ivory parasol, with the scent of tea wafting around. Clair brought everyone over and gave a small nod. “Mrs. Buick, long time no see.”

He pointed to the side. “This is Brianna, Brandon Levy’s wife, and Patsy Sampson, a partner at Horizon Group.”

Brianna offered her business card with both hands, wearing a polite smile. “Sorry for dropping in, Mrs. Buick. Thanks fo seeing us.”

Mrs. Buick took the card, her gaze lingering on Brianna for a couple of seconds before she smiled. “I’ve had tea with your mother-in-law a few times. She’s a woman I really respect, and you’re even more impressive than she is.”

Then she turned to Patsy. “You’re running the show at such a young age. That’s really something.”

With just that one line, the atmosphere finally warmed up a bit.

Brianna lowered her eyes and smiled softly. Finally, she’d managed to wedge her foot in the door.

Once the ladies heard she was the wife of the CEO of the Levy family, the richest in Klamdiff, their whole attitude shifted. Suddenly, they were all smiles and politeness.

Five minutes before kickoff, the lounge buzzed with excitement as eight men swept in, pulling back the curtains with flair. Their tall riding boots thudded against the floor, commanding everyone’s attention.

These players were all sons of the city’s elite-shoulders cut sharper than the lawn, collars undone just enough to flaunt their sun-bronzed collarbones.

As with any match, there was a prize at stake. Today, the top player would win a brand-new Ferrari for the lady he pledged allegiance to.

Brianna wasn’t here for the car, and the players barely registered in her mind. She’d come to catch the latest gossip, lerung the thundering hooves fade into the background.

Suddenly, a shadow slipped over the parasol, and a familiar deep voice murmured right by her ear, “Mrs. Buick, long t no see.”

She looked up. It was Kane, in a blazing red number one jersey. The vivid collar made his eyes seem even darker as he leaned in with a smile. “Ms. Meyers, looks like we meet again.”

“Mr. Flynn,” Brianna said, caught off guard as her gaze flicked over his jersey. “I never knew you were into polo

“Wouldn’t call myself a pro. Just here for the fun,” Kane replied, his eyes locked on her the whole time.

Mrs. Buick laughed warmly. “Kane’s our star forward. Since you two already know each other, why not let him play for ! Meyers today and see if he can win her the prize?”

Brianna barely had time to refuse before Kane had already picked up his mallet, placed a hand over his heart, and given slight bow. “The honor’s all mine.”

As soon as the whistle blew, Brianna might not know much about polo, but it was clear these eight players weren’t just messing around. They played like real pros.

Patsy slid her sunglasses down and leaned in close. “Kane’s actually made it to the top spot in Port City’s circles? Looks lik we’re seriously behind on the news.”

Brianna nodded, the faint crease between her brows still there. “Why is he everywhere I go?”

“Must be some cosmic coincidence,” Patsy said, pushing her shades back up to hide her eyes. “Just don’t fall for it.”

“You think it’s a bit too much of a coincidence, too?” Brianna asked.

“And his usual sidekick isn’t here. That’s kind of odd,” Patsy shrugged.

Brianna raised her binoculars, and Kane, blazing in his red number one jersey, filled the lens. He leaned in for a swing, muscles drawn tight like a bow, hair whipped back by the wind. Honestly, he looked almost too perfect.

But that very perfection made her nose itch with suspicion. Every move hit a visual sweet spot, every swing aimed straight the sunshade cameras, like he’d rehearsed the whole thing.

Clair finally broke free from the endless chit-chat about the new fall and winter lines with the ladies and dropped himself back under the sunshade.

Brianna leaned over and kept her voice low. “Is Kane really that connected in Port City?”

“Apparently, he spends half the year here,” Clair said, leaning in with some fresh gossip. “His network goes way deeper than we ever guessed.”

Brianna gave a soft “oh,” her voice trailing off, leaving the meaning hanging in the air.

The game moved at lightning speed-four rounds, seven minutes each, with just five-minute breaks in between. Before an hour was up, the final whistle blew.

Kane rode like the wind and took home the Best Player crystal trophy-no contest.

Then came the social anxiety hell: awards, group photos, the champion captain’s speech, and the MVP handing over the car.

Kane held the reins of his fiery red horse in one hand, and with the other, he handed the car keys to Brianna, his smile su flawless it looked like something straight out of a corporate template.

The cameras clicked away nonstop, and the ladies applauded like it was some medieval knighting ceremony

Brianna looked calm on the surface han treide she was dying of social anxiety. Every second felt like public humiliation.

She wished she could vanish on the spot, but for Horizon Group, she had to swallow her nerves and power through

Thankfully, the scorching sun and her sunglasses hid every bit of her awkwardness.

The reception was aglow with shimmering lights, and soft music floated in the background.

With the tags “wife of Klamdiff’s richest man,” “backed by Kane,” and “Mrs. Buick’s VIP guest,” Brianna and Patsy becam center of attention. Everyone wanted a piece of them, and the crowd eager to strike up a conversation just kept coming

Using the excuse of needing some air, Brianna slipped out to the terrace and called Gabrielle. She gave a quick rundow why she was there and subtly tried to suss out Mrs. Buick’s vibe.
