Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 146

Chapter 146 Gabrielle’s Subtle Reminder

After dinner, as they were about to part ways, Kane walked beside Brianna.

He dropped his usual playboy act and asked seriously, “Ms. Meyers, are you really okay with Mr. Levy going to the party with Allison?”

“Do you mind, Mr. Flynn?” Brianna shot back. Without waiting for an answer, she replied coolly. “They were fogether fo years. If their relationship was really that strong. Brandon wouldn’t have married me, right?”

Kane smirked. “When we first met, I thought you were the jealous type. Turns out you’re pretty clear-eyed

Brianna paused for a second, remembering their first meeting at the Dexter Gems charity gala. Darcy had tumbled dow the stairs and had a miscarriage, all in an attempt to set her up.

Just thinking about that messy incident made Brianna’s ears burn.

She kept her cool, but there was a hint of apology in her voice. “Sorry you had to witness that mess, Mr. Flynn.”

“Not at all.” Kane said, visibly relieved, a relaxed smile on his face. “I guess I misjudged you, Ms. Meyers.”

“What?” Brianna looked confused.

Kane pursed his lips apologetically. “Sorry, Ms. Meyers. I honestly thought you were one of those tough, scheming wome from a rich family. Allison’s pretty carefree and not exactly the sharpest when it comes to drama. I was worried that if she got too close to Mr. Levy, you might do something to her, so…”

“So that’s why you were being so nice to me at the polo match and tonight?” Brianna’s eyes flashed with annoyance.

Kane scratched his head, looking like a kid who’d just been caught in a lie. He gave an awkward, apologetic smile, clearly at loss for words.

“Sorry about that,” he said.

Brianna chuckled softly, clearly unbothered.

Back at the hotel, alone in her room, Brianna wasn’t nearly as composed as she’d appeared in front of everyone else.

She fired up her laptop and started searching for news about Allison.

It turned out that Allison had helped a city overseas win a lawsuit and recover a bunch of cultural artifacts last year. That wa! why she’d been invited to a high-profile political and business dinner in Dorynthia.

But Brianna couldn’t help thinking, ‘Why is Brandon the one going with her, and not Kane?’

A wave of frustration and uneasy resentment tightened in her chest.

Brianna thought, ‘Should I call Brandon and demand an explanation? But what’s the point? They’re probably together right now. If I call. I’d only be lowering myself.

For the next few days, the three were busy ironing out some details, and Kane was nowhere to be seen.

Once everything was wrapped up and their return date was set, Brianna handpicked some thoughtful gifts and went with Patsy to Mrs. Buick’s house to thank her in person.

In high society, doing favors was really just about exchanging resources for the future.

Mrs Buick invited them for afternoon tea, her friendly smile never fadmg as she made small talk. “Is Mix Levy coming to

your dinner party?”

Brianna knew she meant Gabrielle.

“Probably not,” Brianna said. “With two kids and some elderly family members at home, she rarely goes out these

Mrs. Buick’s eyes showed real regret. “You know, the last time I saw your mother-in-law in Port City was more than years ago. When she arrived, she caused a real sensation. People still talk about it.”

She mimed an explosion with her hands, her lips still tinged with awe. “Just a few bold moves, and overnight she streamlined the Levy Group for its public offering. All those families who thought they’d get a good laugh ended up completely blindsided. The next morning, every newspaper headline called her the infamous Black Widow.”

Brianna couldn’t tell if Mrs. Buick was just being polite or genuinely reminiscing, so she kept her polite smile. “Oh? I knew she caused such a stir here. She never brought it up to me.”

Mrs. Buick took a slow sip of coffee, her eyes drifting past the window as if she could still see the old city lights. “Back the Levy Group was about to list on the Port City Stock Exchange, there were all kinds of tricks, traps, and naysayers, subtle, some blatant. But your mother-in-law stormed in all by herself and handled it all. Honestly, she was tougher t

man there.

“So, what happened next?” Brianna asked, genuinely curious.

“Well, Mrs. Buick said, snapping the lid onto her cup, “those investors who tried to gang up on her ended up being inv cornerstone investors. They grinned and invested anyway, even if it stung. After that, everyone gave Mrs. Levy extra respect.”

Mrs. Buick’s eyes lit up as she recalled, “After that, people in Port City used to say. Better to cross the Grim Reaper than cross Mrs. Levy.”

Brianna lowered her eyes, feeling a restless heat in her chest. Mrs. Buick’s words didn’t sound like reminiscing. They felt more like she was dropping a hint, as if reminding Brianna of something important.

After leaving Mrs. Buick’s place, Brianna was lost in thought on the ride back, her mind weighed down by everything she just heard.

“What do you think Mrs. Buick was getting at, bringing up Brandon’s mom like that today?” Brianna asked Patsy.

“What else could it mean?” Patsy rolled her eyes. “She’s just reminding you that making it in this world isn’t exactly a walk the park.

Brianna turned her head, a spark in her eyes. “You think Mrs. Buick was implying something more?”

“Come on, anyone with half a brain can see it. Kane and Allison are hanging around you and Brandon. It’s like a fox visiting the henhouse. They’re definitely up to something,” Patsy scoffed.

Patsy pushed her sunglasses up onto her head and snorted. “Honestly, only your Mr. Levy would be so gentlemanly, rolling out the red carpet for them. It’s like he’s almost worried they won’t get a good enough shot at him.”

Brianna couldn’t help but picture that shot from the Dorynthia gala. Allison linked arms with Brandon, and Brandon was wearing that

leent smile, like he was quietly letting her get away with it.

and in the end, just sweeps them right into his arms.”

Brandon ages ago. After the whole mess with Darcy, she only shelved the interests, nothing more.

Now she thought, ‘Yesterday it was my sister, today it’s his old flame, and who knows who he’ll cozy up to tomorrow?

*Seriously, being made a fool and swallowing my pride just isn’t worth it. Might as well cut ties fast and get it over with. I off the band-aid and move on,’ she mused.

Patsy saw the look on Brianna’s face and realized she’d probably said too much.

“Hey, I’m just kidding.” Patsy added quickly. “Brandon’s really not as bad as all that. And trust me, Allison’s the one with shady motives. Don’t let it get to you.”

Brianna let out a cold laugh. “Come on, what woman goes after a married man with innocent intentions? Too bad some just can’t help falling for it, no matter how hard you try to stop them.”

She looked up, her gaze cool and collected.

She thought. I’m not lowering myself to some petty catfight with the other woman. If I’ve got the guys, I’ll deal with the r issue head-on.”

As soon as they got back to the hotel, Kane was in the lobby, all suited up and waiting for them.

“Mr. Flynn?” Brianna was caught off guard. “What a coincidence.”

“Not really. I came here just to see you,” Kane said, slipping right back into his usual playboy vibe.

“What could possibly bring you here in person, Mr. Flynn?” Brianna said with a smile.

“So, what do you want to do about that Ferrari?” Kane asked.

Honestly, if he hadn’t mentioned it, Brianna would’ve completely forgotten.

It was just a bet among their crowd, and she barely knew Kane. She’d never actually wanted the car anyway.
