As the dinner party approached, Brianna picked up some gifts and headed over to Gabrielle’s place.

Gabrielle saw right through her intentions. Brianna just wanted her to attend the Port City dinner and use her network to help her make some connections.

As soon as Brianna brought it up, Gabrielle nodded.

“It’s been years since I last visited Port City. It’ll be nice to go and have a look around,” Gabrielle said.

Brianna thanked Gabrielle, rushed home, packed her bags, and headed to Port City alone.

She’d already arranged an interview with a magazine, hoping to leak some news early and see if she could lure that snake out of its hole.

Brianna saw that Darcy had liked a photo of a Port City socialite.

Some things needed closure. Only then could she truly be at peace with herself..

After landing in Port City and checking into her hotel, Brianna headed downstairs to grab a bite.

The interview was scheduled for the next morning, and Brianna was already running through her plans in her

head.

As she walked through the hotel lobby, someone approached, but Brianna wasn’t paying attention and ran straight into him.

Brianna cried out in surprise, almost lost her footing.

The man grabbed her arm with one hand and steadied her waist with the other, keeping her from falling.

She looked up, locking eyes with Kane.

“Are you okay?” Kane asked, his voice gentle.

Brianna steadied herself, stepped back from him, and gave an embarrassed smile. “Sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. What brings you here, Mr. Flynn?”

“I never left after my last visit,” Kane said, his eyes full of emotion as he looked at her. “Are you here alone?”

“Yeah,” Brianna replied, feeling a bit uneasy under his gaze as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “The

“Since Mr. Levy isn’t here yet, would you let me play your knight in shining armor for a bit and join you for dinner, Ms. Meyers?” Kane asked.

Maybe worried she’d turn him down, he quickly added before she could say no, “I actually have something I want to talk to you about.”

Brianna was about to refuse, but the second half of his sentence piqued her curiosity.

‘What does he want to talk about?’ she wondered.

She wanted to find out what Kane and Allison were plotting against the Levy family.

‘If you want the tiger’s cub, you have to brave the tiger’s den,’ Brianna reminded herself.

If they really were up to something, avoiding them would only mean losing the initiative.

“Perfect timing! I was hoping you could be my guide and show me some good places to eat in Port City,” Brianna said.

As they chatted, they walked out of the hotel lobby together.

The driver was already waiting for Kane, and as soon as he saw them, he opened the car

door.

Kane took Brianna to a Michelin-starred restaurant at the waterfront, and he effortlessly had the waiter arrange a prime spot overlooking the water for them.

Brianna couldn’t help but wonder if he’d made the reservation ahead of time.

“I haven’t seen Ms. Moore around lately. She hasn’t come to Port City?” Brianna remarked offhandedly.

“Her?” Kane replied, making a dismissive face as if it had nothing to do with him. “No idea where she’s wandering these days.”

Brianna smiled and continued, “Sometimes I really envy how you and Ms. Moore are together. You always manage to keep things exciting between you two.”

“Getting bored of Mr. Levy already, Ms. Meyers?” Kane teased, giving her a playful wink.

Brianna took a sip of her lemon water and smiled. “Once you’re married and have kids, it’s more about family than romance.”

“Can’t really blame you, Ms. Meyers. Mr. Levy is so uptight, he’s like a strict teacher or a drill sergeant,” Kane joked.

Brianna couldn’t help but laugh. He really nailed Brandon’s vibe,

“Now that you say it, maybe he should’ve been a teacher instead,” Brianna chuckled.

After ioking around, things felt more relaxed between them.

Kane had a knack for keeping things lively and making women laugh. Brianna was no exception, laughing along with him. But beneath her smile, she never let her guard down.

After dinner, they took a stroll along the waterfront before heading back to the hotel.

Brianna couldn’t help but ask, “Are you staying at the hotel too, Mr. Flynn?”

She’d heard from the Port City socialites that he spent half his time here, so bumping into him at the hotel felt a bit suspicious.

Kane gave a wry, self-deprecating smile. “When she’s not around, I end up staying at hotels. Nights are long, and it’s hard to sleep alone.”

“Hope you don’t mind me asking,” Brianna brought the conversation back around, “are you and Ms. Moore thinking about tying the knot?”

Kane pressed the elevator button and laughed. “Are you feeling a bit anxious, Ms. Meyers?”

Brianna just shrugged, noncommittal. “Ms. Moore is so amazing. Aren’t you worried someone might steal her away?”

“I’m not worried about anyone else,” Kane said, a wry smile tugging at his lips. “But as for the drill sergeant, who knows.”

Brianna let out a couple of laughs, but didn’t respond.

“Are you worried about Mr. Levy, Ms. Meyers?” Kane asked, staring straight at her, like he was trying to read her mind.

Brianna didn’t answer right away. She thought for a moment, then met his gaze. “No, I’m not worried.”

She was telling the truth.

But it wasn’t out of trust. It was simply that she didn’t care anymore.

Seeing her so composed, Kane’s gaze deepened. He smiled and nodded, “Ms. Meyers, you’re gorgeous and talented. You really have nothing to be concerned about.”

He gave her a mischievous wink. “If I were Mr. Levy, with a wife like you, I wouldn’t have eyes for anyone else.”

Brianna was about to say something when, out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of a familiar figure.

She turned her head, narrowing her eyes as she watched Reese approach with a beaming smile, a hotel porter following behind, pushing a cart loaded with luggage.

“Long time no see, my dear niece,” Reese greeted her, still every bit the poised socialite.

Brianna instinctively crossed her arms, eyeing her aunt warily her m
