Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 156

Chapter 156 Settle the Score

After spending way too long in Port City, Brianna was busy dealing with things when she finally got back to Klamdiff.

Once she finished everything, she headed straight to the detention center.

Darcy’s case had already gone through the preliminary hearing, and now the police just needed to complete the evidence chain before handing it over to the prosecutor.

The private investigator had already given Brandon the missing piece of the puzzle. The kidnapper who’d snatched Brianna in Seavale last year ended up dead in a cave in Mistford, and it turned out Darcy was the one who’d hired him.

The day Brandon handed the evidence to the police, a new charge of “premeditated murder for hire” was added to Darcy’s file, and the sentence listed was crystal clear: death penalty.

The meeting room was flooded with cold, white light. Darcy sat behind the glass, looking like a bloodless specimen-her skin waxy, cheeks hollowed out, and only those poisonous eyes left, burning with a hatred tha wished Brianna would join her in hell.

Brianna picked up the phone, her lips curling into a smile, part greeting, part like she was tossing a bone to a stray dog.

“Why aren’t you dead yet?” Darcy’s voice came through the receiver, raspy and harsh like a dull blade scraping metal.

“Heaven must have eyes, letting me stay alive just to see you extradited,” Brianna said, her smile turning her eyes into pretty crescent moons. “Feeling good about it?”

Darcy grinned too, flashing her sharp white teeth. “Rest assured, even if I turn into a ghost, I’ll stick to you like

a shadow.”

“Talking about ghosts,” Brianna tilted her head, her tone matter-of-fact, like she was just discussing the weather. “Once you’re executed, do you want your ashes buried next to Dad, or should I scatter them in the sea?”

The glass suddenly rattled as Darcy lunged at it, her fingers scraping out a shrill noise on the barrier. “Don’t get smug! This isn’t over between us!”

“No, it’s over,” Brianna leaned in to the phone, her voice soft, laced with the sweetness only a victor could

savor.

“You’ll take a seat on the electric chair, and I’ll be the one to collect your ashes. No one else.”

Darcy’s hatred blazed behind the glass, but it couldn’t touch even a thread of Brianna’s clothes.

“Even if I turn into a ghost, I’ll haunt you forever!” Darcy spat.

She pressed herself against the glass, like a venomous snake locked in a clear box. Her fangs gone, all she could do was flick her tongue and hiss, but it was just empty noise.

“Dad never loved you, Brandon never loved you, and even your own daughter hates you,” Darcy laughed like a lunatic, every word hitting where it hurt most. “Look at you now. Dying would be easier than living like this!”

Brianna listened in silence, not even her lashes twitching, then asked back, calm as ever.

“Oh? And did Whitney ever love you?

“If he really loved you, would he have let you carry the label of ‘illegitimate child’ for over twenty years? Would he ever give up his fortune to make your mom his wife?” Brianna said.

“He’d rather let people point fingers at you and your mom, let you be pushed around and treated like dirt, jus to protect his money. Is that what you call love?” Brianna went on.

“And all those times he pretended to care, calling you ‘sweetheart’ and ‘darling’ was that real fatherly love, or just a performance to cover up how shameless he really was?” she added.

Brianna raised an eyebrow, sizing Darcy up like she was nothing but damaged goods.

“You schemed your way into Brandon’s life, sucked up to my daughter, all just to try and steal everything that belongs to me,” she sighed.

“But deep down, you know better than anyone. Brandon’s never going to be yours, no matter how hard you try,” she added.

“Otherwise,” Brianna let out a cold laugh, her voice dropping to a whisper, “you wouldn’t have kept trying to get rid of me, right?”

Darcy’s shoulders jerked hard. She opened her mouth, but every comeback felt weightless, like bubbles bursting before they even left her lips.

“The only person in this world who ever truly loved you was probably Kendra,” she reminded.

Brianna leaned in, her gaze cold and steady. “But you treated that kid like a brick to open doors, a ladder to climb higher. You don’t understand love at all. You never could, and you never will!”

“You grew up in a twisted mess, and your warped parents snuffed out any last spark of hope inside you. The three of you, let’s be real, you’re just monsters pretending to be human,” Brianna continued.

“Even if you somehow managed to get Brandon, you’d only end up destroying him, tearing apart your marriage, and wrecking anything that ever looked good because you can’t stand anything pure,” she reminded.

Brianna let out a soft sigh, like she was draping a white sheet over someone about to die. “This ending? You brought it on yourself.”

“Maybe it’s heaven finally opening its eyes, making sure a monster like you gets the punishment you deserve,” she concluded.

“I’m going to kill you-” Darcy screamed, lunging at the glass, her nails screeching across the barrier.

She lunged at the glass, her nails scraping out a piercing, shrill scream across the barrier.

The next second, a guard twisted her arms behind her back and dragged her away without a hint of gentleness.

Through the blur of moving bodies, Brianna could still see Darcy screaming, her mouth forming the same words again and again. “Even if I turn into a ghost, I’ll haunt you forever!”

The meeting room fell silent again.

Brianna straightened her cuffs, and as she turned, she brushed off her skirt, like she were dusting off some dirt.

Sunlight cut through the iron bars, landing at her feet like a golden victory ribbon.

The highway shimmered with a chilly glow after the rain, and the detention center’s iron gate slammed shut behind her.

Brianna tossed the prison mugshot into the file folder, floored the gas pedal, and sped straight toward the psych ward.

Some scores had to be settled today.

After pushing through seven heavy iron locks and three layers of security checks, Brianna was finally escorted into the underground high-security ward, the cells reserved for the most violent psychiatric inmates.

The harsh fluorescent lights washed everything in a bleak white. Blanca sat with her back pressed to the wall, her hair streaked gray and wild like dried weeds, but her eyes still shone with an unnerving, predatory green.

Just one glance, and Brianna could tell that Blanca was more lucid than anyone else in this place.

“Your daughter’s back,” Brianna said, raising her hand and pressing the photo against the small glass window.

Blanca froze for a second, then cracked a wild grin, her voice raspy and reeking of meds. “I knew Darcy wouldn’t leave me behind… Once I get out, I’ll skin you alive! I took out your mom, and I can take you out

too!”

Brianna let out a soft laugh, tapping her fingers on the window. “Too bad, she was extradited.”

She paused on purpose, enjoying the ugly panic in Blanca’s breathing. “The recommended sentence? Death penalty!”

“You’re lying!” Blanca screamed, hurling herself at the iron door, chains clanging like crazy. “She’s overseas! Even I couldn’t track her down. What makes you think-”
