Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 167

Chapter 167 Tristan’s Proposal

For two months, Brianna hadn’t taken the initiative to contact Brandon.

After leaving the Levy Group, she sat in her car and called him.

Margo had hurt Kendra, crossing Brianna’s bottom line. Brianna was determined to make her pay for it.

The call was answered almost instantly.

“Hello?” Brandon’s voice was husky, with that familiar upward lilt at the end. “Is something wrong?”

The easy familiarity made Brianna tense, her brows knitting without her realizing. Her voice was steady and cold. “Margo is teaming up with Kane to seize the CEO spot.”

Her tone carried no emotion, no warmth.

Brandon took her words as nothing more than concern for him.

There was a brief pause, then Brandon gave a soft laugh, his tone gentle, as if comforting a child. “Don’t worry, I already know.”

“You know?” Brianna raised her voice.

‘Is Brandon really so devoted to Allison that he’d actually offer me to his rival?’ she thought.

Anger surged in Brianna’s chest, her eyes stinging. She let out a cold laugh. “You and Margo really are cut from the same cloth.”

Her voice was as cold as a knife scraping against glass. “Competing to see who’s more generous-handing over your ex-wife like it’s nothing.”

With a sharp click, the call ended-the busy tone ringing out in the car, stinging like a slap.

Brandon stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his phone hanging at his side. As the screen went dark, it reflected the tight line of his lips.

A dull ache spread through his chest, and all he could do was let out a slow, heavy breath, feeling utterly helpless.

‘Just a little longer,’ he told himself. ‘Wait for the final verdict, wait for all the schemes to finally come to an

end.

‘When that day comes, I’ll give her everything I have. I’ll make it up to her, for real this time.

The afternoon sunlight cut cold lines across the desk through the blinds. Brianna sat at her desk, a breeze messing up the papers, but her brows stayed furrowed, unmoved by it.

Her chest felt heavy, like someone had dropped a slab of lead right on top of her.

Tristan just walked right in, not bothering to knock.

He was all smiles, waving around a stack of papers like he’d just won a prize.

But the moment his grin met her eyes, he sensed the storm in them. His steps slowed, and his voice softened without thinking. “What’s wrong? Who got you this upset?”

“It’s nothing,” Brianna said, flattening her lips into a smile, like she was trying to smooth out a crumpled piece of paper. “Just some family matters.”

“Family?” Tristan felt a pang in his chest.

After finally waiting for her to sign the divorce papers, with Brandon all the way across the ocean, Tristan wasn’t about to let anything mess this up now. “What happened?”

“Margo said some messed-up things to Kendra, and now the kid’s been really down,” Brianna said, trying to sound casual, but her knuckles were white from how hard she was gripping the edge of the desk.

Tristan let out a sigh of relief, though he was still clenching his jaw inside. He kept that gentle, coaxing smile on his face. “How about I take you and Kendra out this weekend? We can go to the amusement park, just to get her mind off things.”

“That sounds good,” Brianna said, nodding, and for the first time in a while, her frown finally eased up a little.

Seeing her guard down, Tristan handed over the papers, a proud twinkle in his eyes. “Take a look.”

On the cover, bold black letters caught her eye: Pratt Group & Unity Group Cooperation Framework Agreement.

Brianna’s head snapped up, her shock written all over her face. “You actually begged your uncle?”

“My father only has me as his son. The company’s going to be mine anyway. I just let him save face,” Tristan said.

He rubbed his nose, grinning like it was nothing, but his eyes were quietly pleading for approval.

Her nose prickled with emotion, and it took Brianna a long moment to find her voice. She finally managed a whisper, “Thank you, Tristan.”

He gave her a long, intense look, forcing all his feelings back down into his chest. Then he waved it off. “I’ll get back to work.”

The moment the door closed behind him, Tristan was so regretful he nearly stomped his foot.

‘What a perfect chance! Why didn’t I just say it?’ Tristan berated himself.

‘I should’ve just told her-everything I’ve done all these years was because I love her,’ he thought, wishing he’d spoken up while she was still touched.

Back in his office, Tristan wasted no time calling his assistant. “Get me that exclusive limited-edition doll today. Whatever it costs, just make it happen.”

By eight o’clock, the night draped over the city like a heavy, wet velvet curtain, weighing down everything.

Tristan was clutching a doll box nearly as tall as himself, and inside his jacket, he carried a small square box he’d kept for years, just for this moment. The velvet pressed against his chest, hot enough to sting.

The car raced through the streets, and Tristan was desperate to be in front of her, to finally let out all the feelings he’d kept hidden for years.

Dusk settled over the courtyard like a rumpled velvet blanket, soft and muted.

Brianna and Kendra were playing with a feathered toy, their laughter echoing, crisp and cheerful.

Tristan walked into the courtyard.

“What are you doing here?” Brianna asked, the shuttlecock frozen at her foot. She looked up, surprise flashing in her eyes, with a trace of nervousness she tried to mask.

Tristan didn’t say a word. He just lifted the doll box, nearly as tall as he was, from behind his back.

In the darkness, the limited-edition tag shimmered with a cool blue glow.

Kendra’s excited shout cut through the chilly air. “A limited-edition Barbie! How did you get your hands on this, Uncle Tristan?”

Tristan pursed his lips, a little sheepish. “Yeah, it was pretty tough to get.”

He leaned in, his voice gentle, eyes never leaving Brianna-full of affection. “Anything for you, no matter how hard it is.”

Kendra jumped into his arms, rubbing her face against the plush toy, her eyes shining like stars.

Brianna was caught off guard for a moment by the glow in his eyes, then stepped aside to let him in. “It’s cold out here. Let’s go inside and open it.”

The living room was lit up like daytime, and Judy brought in a tray of coffee, the scent wafting through the

room.

The doll was placed on the carpet, and Kendra ran circles around it, full of energy. Tristan sat at the edge of the sofa, his gaze lingering on Brianna’s downcast lashes.

She poured the tea, glancing up at her daughter every now and then, her smile serene and beautiful.

As the night wore on, the doll box sat toppled to the side, but Kendra just couldn’t bring herself to part with it. Brianna gave Judy a look, signaling her to take Kendra for a bath, and the living room instantly fell silent. “You…” Brianna had just opened her mouth to speak when a sudden stomach growl broke the silence.

Tristan held his stomach, a sheepish grin on his face. “I was so eager to get here, I forgot all about dinner.”

The sound tugged at Brianna’s heart like a cat’s paw. Her brow flickered, and the scolding she meant to give him faded into a gentle sigh.

She turned and headed into the kitchen, tying on an apron. Her figure, backlit by the light, looked just like a crescent moon-gentle, almost full, but not quite.

The water bubbled, pasta dropped in, eggs crackled in the pan. In less than ten minutes, she brought out a steaming bowl of scallion pasta soup in clear broth.

Tristan took the bowl from her, their fingertips brushing-just a fleeting touch, but it sent a jolt straight to his

chest.

He bent over the table, almost wolfing down the pasta like he couldn’t get enough. The happiness he’d been chasing for years suddenly felt so close, he could almost taste it.

Judy cleared away the dishes, and the room was bathed in a warm, golden glow.

Tristan looked up, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed hard. Finally, he spoke, his voice rough but burning with emotion. “Brianna, I need to tell you something.”

He stepped closer, and before he could finish, their breaths mingled-the air between them charged. Without another word, he took her hand and led her outside.

A cold wind whipped through the courtyard, sending dead leaves swirling. The wall lights stretched their shadows long and thin, as if the night might tear them apart at any moment.

Tristan’s eyes burned with a reckless, all-consuming fire. He pulled Brianna to the stone steps, his voice low, barely above a whisper, thumping with his heartbeat. “I need to tell you something.”
