Chapter 37
Brianna was stunned when Brandon walked in. What is he doing here?‘ she wondered.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
Brandon didn’t answer. He walked over to the desk, just about to sit down, but as soon as his fingers touched the chair, he frowned. Then he walked around to the other side of the desk and sat down in Brianna’s chair.
What is he up to now?‘ Brianna thought, annoyed. She sat down in the chair Tristan had just vacated, waiting for Brandon to say something.
Brandon scrutinized Brianna, his whole presence radiating a cold, intimidating aura.
“What exactly did you bet about our marriage with the Levy family’s young master?” Brandon demanded again.
“It was just a joke. Why are you here?” Brianna asked.
Brandon didn’t answer. He rested his elbows on the armrests, fingers laced together, absently rubbing his thumbnails. His face was cold, his lips pressed into a thin line.
Brianna knew that look. He was pissed.
After all these years, she knew his moods and little habits inside out.
But she still couldn’t figure out why he’d show up at her office acting like this.
Back then, she would’ve bent over backwards to please him, doing whatever she could to smooth things over, even lowering herself to beg him to let it go.
Now, all she felt was annoyance.
She just frowned and waited quietly for him to say something.
Seeing that she couldn’t care less about how he felt, Brandon’s annoyance spiked even higher.
He couldn’t figure out why, but when he got downstairs to her company, he actually felt a bit excited.

But the moment he reached the door and heard her say, “Let’s bet on my marriage,” rage flared up inside him. He pushed the door open without a second thought, and the sight of Tristan was the last straw. He couldn’t hold back his
anymore.
“You keep bringing up divorce. Don’t tell me it’s because of that spoiled brat from the Pratt family,” Brandon sneered.
Brianna scoffed, rolling her eyes. “Seriously? You think everyone’s just desperate to hook up with someone right under their nose?”
She didn’t say it out loud, but the thought flashed through her mind: ‘Just like you?‘
“Brianna, I told you. I’m not agreeing to a divorce. You’d better drop the idea right now!” Brandon snapped.
His voice was thick with anger.
He’d totally lost it, no trace left of the cool, distant CEO he usually was..
Brianna rolled her eyes and just gave a wry smile.

Seriously, I really don’t get you. I thought you were the one dying to get divorced.” she said.
Even with Brandon fuming right in front of her, Brianna stayed completely calm. It was like the whole thing had nothing to do with her.
Seeing the way Brianna showed no emotion, Brandon suddenly wondered. Is she actually serious about wanting a divorce?”
‘No way. She’s always loved me. She wouldn’t just walk away, he reassured himself.
But suddenly, a surge of panic washed over him, like something was shipping out of his grasp.
“What makes you think I want a divorce?” Brandon demanded, his voice tight.
“Haven’t you always believed our marriage was just some scheme of mine? Haven’t you never loved me, not even once?” Brianna shot back.
A bittersweet feeling lingered deep inside her, but it had faded to almost nothing.
Brandon smirked, a hint of sarcasm on his lips.
“So, was that night all part of your little scheme?” he asked.

Brianna was quiet for a while, and before she knew it, she blurted out, “Yeah. I was the one who drugged you.”
All these years, even though people suspected as much, Brandon had never confronted her about it.
They’d slept together, and she’d ended up pregnant with his child. As the heir to the Levy family, it was his duty and upbringing to take responsibility.
Deep down, whenever he remembered how frail and meek she looked in front of him, he just couldn’t believe she’d ever scheme like that.
So, over the years, whether it was her plan or not didn’t really matter. Even though he never truly loved her, he always carried a lingering sense of guilt.
Today, Brandon had let slip all their ugly secrets in a moment of lost control, but deep down, he was hoping she’d flat–out deny everything, hoping she’d still show him the same affection she used to.
But when Brianna actually admitted it, he was left completely at a loss.
“So, our whole marriage was just a setup. There’s no reason for us to stay together anymore,” Brianna said, staring him down
୮ stubbornly.
“Why did you have to set me up?” Brandon’s voice was cold and threatening.
“Because you’re the heir to the Levy family” Brianna blurted out, then quickly shut her mouth, afraid her voice would betray what she really felt.
At this moment, Brianna coukin’t keep her composure anymore. Confronting the feelings she’d carried since her youth. even though she’d made up her mind to let go, her heart was anything but calm.
Brandon was furious to the extreme, the veins on his forehead bulging.
“Was it only because of who I am? Did you never love me?” Brandon demanded.
Brianna’s heart tightened. Back in high school, when she visited the Levy family with her grandma, she caught a glimpse of

randon a charping boy home from studying abroad, dressed in a white T–shirt and jeans. His bright, sunny smile lit up
the darkness inside her in an instant.
From then on, she just could get him out of her mind.
When her life hit its lowest point, after everything fell apart, she thought he would be the one to save her.
But he was always out of reach, cold and unfeelag, and she’d already drained herself trying.
Their marriage turned into another mess, and divorce was the only way she could finally save herself.
“Never loved you, not even once!” Brianna choked out, tears slipping down her cheeks, but her gaze stayed stubborn and unyielding as she stared him down.
Brandon couldn’t hold back anymore. He shot to his feet and strode straight over to Briarma.
He yanked her up, locking his arm around her waist, and claimed her lips in a fierce, possessive kiss, his passion almost
savage.
Brianna struggled, trying to break free from his embrace, but he only held her tighter.
Her mind went blank for a second as she was pressed against his hard chest.
Just as Brandon was caught up in the heat of the moment, the office door was knocked on again.
The door swung open, and Patsy popped in with an apologetic, “Oh, sorry.”
Brandon’s mood was ruined, and he glared at the doorway, irritation written all over his face.
Seizing the moment while he was distracted, Brianna shoved him away and took a few steps back, turning to Patsy like she’d just been rescued.
“Patsy, come in. What’s up?” Brianna called out.
Patsy stood at the doorway, a playful smile tugging at the corners of her eyes. “If I’m interrupting, I can come back later,” she teased.
Brianna shot her a mock–annoyed look. “Just get in here already.”
Patsy sauntered in with a folder, a playful smile in her eyes as she looked at Brandon.
“Sorry, Mr. Levy, didn’t mean to interrupt your little moment,” she teased.
Brandon cleared his throat, completely unfazed, and gave her a polite smile.
Meanwhile, Brianna’s face turned bright red, looking like a shy schoolgirl caught off guard.
Patsy walked over and handed Brianna a folder. “I compared a few locations for you. Here’s everything you need. Check it
out
Brianna took the folder, giving Patsy a desperate look, hoping she’d stick around.
Patsy immediately got the hint and turned to Brandon.
“Mr. Levy, what’s got you dropping by our office today?” she said with a playful smile.
