Chapter 43
Darcy stepped forward with a childlike innocence. “Brianna, let’s do this together. Brandon’s here too.”
After that, she threw Brianna a challenging look, raising her eyebrows.
“No,” Brianna said coldly.
Her eyes held only a quiet disregard.
“Come on, let’s eat together. What kind of couple eats separately in the same restaurant?”
Clifford said with a grin.
He couldn’t figure out why he was so desperate to get close to Brandon’s wife.
“No,” Brianna replied, her tone indifferent.
Brandon took a seat at another table, and the two, feeling a bit embarrassed, turned and walked away.
Darcy shot a mocking smirk as she left.
Clifford couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed inside.
During the meal, Clair was extra attentive.
He prompted Brianna to share memories from their college days and enthusiastically discussed jewelry design, making the mood light and easy.
Brianna couldn’t help but smile brightly.
Brandon, sitting nearby, caught Brianna’s bright smile out of the corner of his eye, and his brows furrowed in
annoyance.
Darcy kept an eye on Brandon’s reaction, then, pretending to be casual, she said, “I heard Mr. Salazar was after Brianna back then, and he made a fool of himself more than once.”
Brandon looked away from Brianna.
“Brianna used to be really into southwest ethnic jewelry. They were planning to go there together on a research trip,” Darcy said offhand.
“But then Brianna got sick, and Mr. Salazar stayed with her in the hospital for a long time.
“He didn’t head out to southwest until our dad and the family took over caring for Brianna. He spent the whole break there alone, taking pictures of jewelry for her,” Darcy added.
As Darcy spoke, her eyes were full of envy for those sweet college romances.
Brandon’s gaze turned cold and stormy.

He picked up his cup and downed the whole thing in one go.
Darcy kept that innocent look, like she had no clue her words were out of line.
“I also heard that back then, Mr. Salazar was the campus heartthrob, and Brianna was the campus belle. Th were the it couple at S University,” Darcy added.
Brandon’s eyes burned with cold fury as he cast a discreet look at Brianna and Clair.
Their radiant smiles felt like daggers to his eyes, making him wince inside.
He gripped the teacup so hard his knuckles turned white.
After finishing their meal, Brianna and Clair left without even saying goodbye.
Clifford watched their backs as they walked away, feeling a subtle disappointment settle in his chest.
“You’re just going to let your wife leave with another man?” Darcy teased.
Brandon kept his face blank, but a flicker of annoyance flashed in his eyes.
Darcy smiled. “Brianna’s crazy about you. She’ll probably call you in a bit.”
She turned to Brandon, her expression innocent.
“But Brandon, did you do something to make Brianna mad?” she asked.
Brandon’s lips twitched as he replied coldly, “I couldn’t care less about her.”
But even as he said that, he couldn’t hide the anger simmering beneath the surface.
After leaving the sushi restaurant, Clifford suggested they hit up a bar.
Darcy jumped at the idea, but Brandon said he had some things to take care of and hurried back to the hotel.
He was staying at a hotel owned by the Levy Group.
As soon as he arrived, he called for the hotel manager.
“Find out which room Mrs. Levy is staying in,” he ordered.
The manager came back quickly.
“Mr. Levy, Mrs. Levy isn’t staying at our hotel,” the manager replied.
Brandon’s face darkened with anger.
“Alright, you can go,” he said coldly.
‘So she’s not here… Where did she go? No way, did she really end up crashing at Clair’s place?’ Brandon wondered.

His chest tightened, a nameless rage simmering inside.
Remembering how she was all smiles with another guy, he let out a cold snort.
‘Campus golden couple, huh? College romance, huh?’ Brandon scoffed inwardly.
He picked up his phone several times, dialed her number, but hung up right away each time.
‘She’s my wife, and she can just sit there eating with another guy right in front of me, and she doesn’t eve bother to explain herself? What the hell is going through her mind?’ Brandon fumed.
‘And now she doesn’t even bother to call me? She’s acting like I don’t matter to her at all,’ he thought.
That thought made his heart skip a beat, and for a moment, he felt a wave of panic.
‘She really doesn’t care about me anymore,’ he thought, the realization stinging him.
He tore off his tie in frustration and dialed his assistant, his tone cold as ice.
“Track Mrs. Levy’s phone for me,” he commanded.
Darcy’s room was shrouded in darkness; she hadn’t bothered to turn on the lights.
Thick curtains blocked out the streetlights, leaving the room pitch black, so dark she couldn’t even see her hand in front of her face.
Her delicate features were swallowed by the shadows, twisted into something as sinister and ugly as a viper lurking in the dark.
She made a call.
“Hey, you can start now,” she said, her voice icy.
After hanging up, her twisted features broke into a wicked, shadowy smile.
‘Let the games begin, Brianna. Let’s see if you can still smile as brightly as you did tonight tomorrow, Darcy sneered to herself.
Meanwhile, after washing up, Brianna sat on her bed hugging her laptop, lost in thought.
Ever since she found out Brandon had bought Darcy a 1.5 million dollars gown, it was like a thorn stuck in he heart.
She did her best to pretend she didn’t care, acting all cool and unfazed, but deep down, she just couldn’t let it
Why does it have to be Darcy? He knows what my family’s been through, and still, he acts like all those years together mean nothing?’ she thought, bitterness welling up inside her.
She’d poured her heart into this marriage, but he never even spared me a glance. And Darcy was so twisted and fake, but he treated her like she was the only one that mattered.

‘Bet he’s here just for Darcy. Figures, Brianna thought, bitterness gnawing at her.
The more she dwelled on it, the tighter her chest felt. She finally tossed her laptop aside and tried to for herself to sleep.
