Too Late For Regrets, Mr. Billionaire (Brianna Meyers and Brandon Levy) novel Chapter 70

Chapter 70 Goodbye to Kendra

It was already afternoon when Brianna woke up at Patsy’s place. She had spent the whole night caring for Patsy, staying up and busy until almost dawn. She was extremely exhausted. After a good night’s sleep, Brianna felt much more refreshed. Patsy was still asleep, Brianna ordered some takeout. She gripped his phone, unsettled. Brandon’s drunken state last night kept flashing through her mind.

All these years after they got married, she had never seen him so drunk before. Moreover, it was all because of her. Guilt gnawed at her, and after hesitating for a while, he finally made up her mind and dialed Brandon’s number.

Soon, the call was picked up. “Hello?” Brandon’s tone was as cold as ever.

There was a lot of background noise on his end. Brianna frowned, thinking, ‘You were so drunk last night; didn’t you get some rest?’

“Where are you?” Brianna asked.

“I’m checking things up at the factory. What’s up?” Brandon replied, feeling a twinge of guilt while talking to her. He figured Brianna probably had found out what happened last night and was calling to give him a piece of her mind.

Brianna sounded worried. “Why did you still go to work after getting so drunk last night?” she asked, unable to hide her

concern.

Brandon’s frown relaxed. “I’m fine,” he replied.

They both then fell silent, the conversation stalling for a moment. After a pause, Brianna said in a calm voice, “You should go home and get some rest. Don’t drink like that again.” With that, she hung up.

Patsy was getting up when the takeout arrived. The two of them ate the takeout, and after making sure Patsy was alright, Brianna called a cab and left.

After her shower, Brianna snuggled under a thick blanket and settled onto the couch. She was about to look for a favorite movie to watch, ready to enjoy a cozy weekend evening.

Suddenly, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen; it was a number from overseas. Thinking it was probably just some scam call, she ignored it. But to her surprise, the phone rang again.

Brianna only picked up when it rang the third time. It was Peter from Tevanni. He said the High Jewelry Association in Valeentia was organizing an event, inviting world-renowned designers to spend a month in Valeentia creating jewelry- themed works.

When he asked if Brianna was interested in joining, she immediately accepted the invitation without hesitation. After hanging up, Brianna couldn’t help but feel a surge of joy.

Back in college, she was really into Aurorian Literature. She had devoured all kinds of works by authors from Valeentia such as Virgil’s “Aeneid,” Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” Boccaccio’s “Decameron,” and many others.

Visiting Valeentia was a travel plan she had yet to realize. Furthermore, she would be able to engage with leading designers worldwide, and the exchange of design concepts across cultures would surely produce exciting sparks.

Brianna was so excited she could barely sit still. She hopped up from the couch and did a little happy dance. But her back, still needing rehab, suddenly twinged. The pain was so sharp it nearly knocked her off her feet.

She grabbed her lower back and plopped right back onto the couch. Her face twisted in pain. The pain in her body was a reminder. ‘I still haven’t gotten my revenge. I can’t let myself get carried away, Brianna reminded herself.

‘Gosh, am I really up for this?’ Brianna couldn’t help but worry. She glanced at her aching body, feeling doubtful. ‘Can I survive a month in Veleentia in my current condition?’ she wondered.

When her pain finally eased, she suddenly remembered it was Clair who had introduced her to Peter in the first place. SQ she called Clair right away, telling him she had been invited to Valeentia, and thanking him for the introduction.

Clair’s excitement was evident from the other end. “Seriously? You’re going to Italy too?” Clair exclaimed. Brianna blurted out, “Hold on, are you going as well?”

Clair replied, practically bursting with excitement, “Yeah, they invited me too. In that case, we can look out for each other.” Brianna couldn’t help but smile. Just a moment ago, she was worried she couldn’t handle it by herself with her condition. But now, things are looking up. Having someone I knew around means I’ll have a bit more support, she thought

Brianna would be heading to Valeentia in just fiv Successfully unlocked! movie and pulled out her laptop. Time was tight, and she needed to get everything sorted out before leaving.

For the following two or three days, Brianna was busy nonstop. She barely had time to catch her breath. When Patsy heard

that Clair would be going to Valentia too, she felt relieved. She fully supported Brianna’s trip to Valeentia.

rgian was the pallone who seemed a bit sulky about it. He joked with a grin, “If you ever miss me, just call me up. I’ll drop everything and fly straight to your side.”

Brianna was so busy with work that she barely noticed the frustration on Tristan’s face. And these days, whenever Tristan showed up, there was always a girl trailing him not far away.

When Brianna had taken care of most of her work, she headed back to the Harper family home and stayed for a night. She wanted to spend time with Caroline for a while before leaving for Valeentia.

Caroline had become so haggard these past few months. Brianna noticed every bit of it, and her heart twisted with pain. She knew well that it was all because she was injured. ‘I’ve really made Grandma worry, she thought.

Brianna held Caroline’s hand and reassured her in a gentle voice. “Grandma, things are only getting better. Please take care of yourself, and don’t worry about me, okay?”

Caroline put her arm around Brianna’s shoulders, and the two of them leaned their heads together. Caroline said, “As long as you’re safe and sound, that’s all I care about.” As she spoke, tears welled up in their eyes.

That night, as Brianna lay in bed, she thought of Kendra. She would be gone for one whole month, so she wanted to go back to see her. Perhaps it’s just that natural motherly instinct, she thought!

Although Kendra had let her down, she still couldn’t forget her duty as a mother. ‘No matter what, before Kendra turns eighteen, I’ll never turn my back on her child,’ she told herself.

After work that afternoon, Brianna headed home. Kendra was already back from school, but Brandon was still not home yet. When Kendra saw Brianna, she was stunned at first, then ran over into her mother’s arms.

“Mom!” Kendra called out. Brianna bent down and wrapped Kendra in a big hug. A warm smile spread across her face, and as usual, she kissed Kendra on the head.

Kendra knew that by repeatedly defending Darcy, she had offended Brianna and hurt her feelings. Yet she also knew that Brianna loved her deeply, unconditionally. So she deliberately kept her distance from her, hoping to push her closer to Darcy. She wasn’t worried about hurting Brianna’s feelings whenever she defended Darcy. She knew Brianna would always forgive her after some time. ‘Just like this time, isn’t Mom still coming back anyway?’ Kendra thought.

However, deep down, kids naturally depended on their mothers, especially when their fathers weren’t always around. When her mother wasn’t home, only the nanny and the butler would accompany her. But they didn’t truly care about her. She was feeling so bored.

Kendra buried in Brianna’s familiar scent, and a surge of grievance bubbled up inside her. She couldn’t help but grumble,” Mom, you know Dad’s always busy. Can’t you stay home with me more often, like you used to?”

Kendra missed how Brianna used to be around. Brianna smiled gently, reached out, and affectionately tousled Kendra’s hair. “Mom’s busy too,” she said, smiling, but then realized her smile was not from the bottom of her heart. That intense love she once felt for Kendra was gone. Now, all she felt was that she had brought her child into this world and had to be responsible for her.

With Brianna around, Kendra was way more excited about doing homework and playing games. She wouldn’t stop chattering. After dinner, just as Kendra was about to go to bed, Brandon finally got home.

When Brandon saw Brianna, he paused for a moment; surprise flickered in his eyes. “You’re back?” he said.

Brianna responded softly, “Mm.” Then she explained, “I’m leaving for Valeentia for a month, so I came back to spend some time with Kendra before I leave.”

Both Brandon and Kendra looked stunned and asked in unison, “For a month?” Brianna nodded.

Brandon’s expression remained grim; he didn’t say anything further. Kendra was reluctant. Her heart started to race for no reason, hearing that Brianna would be away for so long.

Ever since Brianna started her business, she had no longer spent her time around her. The sense of loss weighed heavily on Kendra, and she raised her voice.

“Mom, why do you have to be away for so long? Do you really have to go? I want you to stay with me,” Kendra asked. Brianna’s brow furrowed. She shook her head, her answer firm and unwavering. “No, I’m flying off tomorrow afternoon. It’s confirmed.”

Kendra could tell from Brianna’s determined look that there was absolutely no room for negotiation. She felt a wave of grievance wash over her. ‘Mom wasn’t like this in the past, Kendra thought, feeling upset.

Kendra spoke up again. “Mom, our school will be having a parent meeting soon. I want you to be there for me. Don’t go to

Valentia, Mom. Stay with me,” ahe pleaded.
