Too Late To Love Me I Already Left With His Twins (Lydia and Dave) novel Chapter 299

Lydia POV

“Hi, Lydia. What’s up?”

I leaned against the doorframe for a moment.

“Hmm. I’m chill.”

Dave looked at me carefully.

There was something about the way he looked at me that made my heart do this strange little thing in my chest.

“I actually have something to tell you.”

He sat up a little straighter.

“What?”

I smiled.

“But first, let me show you something.”

Gosh.

I was so scared.

Like, so scared.

Because this was the man I had apparently loved for years, and somehow I had woken up one morning not remembering a single thing about that love.

And now, somehow, all of it was back.

Every conversation.

Every argument.

Every stupid joke.

Every time he’d looked at me like I was the only person in the room.

And I remembered.

I remembered him.

I walked toward him.

He watched me curiously.

Then I wrapped my arms around him.

He immediately caught me.

“Lydia?”

“Carry me.”

“What?”

“Carry me.”

He laughed softly, but he lifted me anyway.

And the second I was in his arms, something inside me settled.

It felt familiar.

So incredibly familiar.

His arms around me.

His scent.

The warmth of his body.

The way he instinctively held me securely.

It was like my body remembered before my brain ever had the chance to.

“Lydia, what’s happening?” he asked, his voice full of concern. “What’s wrong? Are you fine?”

I looked at him.

“Hmm.”

He frowned.

“That’s not an answer.”

I smiled.

I leaned closer.

He immediately went still.

“Lydia…”

I could hear the nervousness in his voice.

I smiled against his cheek.

“This man…”

“What?”

“You really don’t know what I’m about to do, do you?”

He laughed nervously.

“Apparently not.”

I reached up and touched his face.

“Mr. Ashton.”

“Yes?”

“I want you.”

His eyes widened slightly.

I smiled.

“In every sense.”

He stared at me for a second.

Then he gave me that familiar, ridiculous smile.

“Don’t bite more than you can chew.”

I laughed.

“Oh, shut up.”

He laughed too.

And suddenly, all the fear I’d been carrying disappeared.

I remembered why I loved him.

Not because someone had shown me photographs.

Not because people had told me stories.

Not because I was supposed to love him.

I loved him because I did.

I touched his cheek.

“I want to be with you.”

His expression softened.

“Are you sure?”

I nodded.

“I’ve never been more sure of anything.”

“But you just got your memory back.”

“I know.”

“You don’t have to decide everything tonight.”

“I know.”

I smiled.

“But I already know.”

He looked at me for a long moment.

Then he pulled me closer.

“I missed you.”

My eyes filled with tears.

“I missed you too.”

“Even when you didn’t remember me?”

“I think some part of me did.”

He kissed my forehead.

And somehow that was enough to make me cry.

I buried my face against his shoulder.

I looked up at him.

“I’m home.”

He smiled.

“Yeah.”

“You really are my lover.”

He laughed.

“Last time I checked.”

I laughed through my tears.

“God, you’re annoying.”

“And you love me.”

“I do.”

The rest of the night belonged to us.

Just us, finally finding each other again.

And for the first time since waking up in that hospital, I didn’t feel like I was borrowing somebody else’s life.

I felt like I was living mine.

Dave looked at me.

I looked at him.

He smiled.

“Yeah.”

The twins screamed.

“YES!”

They rushed into the room.

I immediately sat up.

“Wait!”

Too late.

Eli climbed onto the bed and wrapped his arms around me.

“Mom!”

I laughed as I hugged him.

“I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“I’m so happy you’re back.”

I kissed his forehead.

“Me too.”

Ava came closer and hugged me too.

Then she looked between me and Dave.

“So you’re really together again?”

I smiled.

“Yes.”

“Like permanently?”

I laughed.

“That’s the plan.”

Eli grinned.

“So we’re all living together again?”

I looked at Dave.

He smiled.

I looked at the twins.

And suddenly, the answer felt so simple.

“Yeah.”

I pulled both of them closer.

“Let’s all live together.”

Eli cheered.

“As a big happy family!”

Ava laughed.

I looked around the room.

My lover.

My children.

My home.

My life.

Everything I’d spent the past week trying to understand suddenly made sense.

I had lost ten years.

But somehow, I had found my way back.

And maybe that was what mattered most.

I looked at Dave.

He smiled at me.

I smiled back.

And for the first time, I didn’t feel like I was waking up inside someone else’s life.

I was home.

With my family.

With the people I loved.

And this time, I remembered exactly why.
