Transmigrated to Raise Panther Cubs

Chapter 105 Too Close for Comfort

Ohokay.

Zachary really didn’t want to step out of his safe zoneand face Matthew headon.

Yet, upon seeing how red Matthew’s back had gotten from all that scrubbing, he could only tell himself to get it over withquick and clean.

Before Zachary could even move, Matthew smoothly turned around on his own. A perfectly defined chest came straight into view.

Caught off guard, Zachary nearly bumped his forehead right into Matthew’s lips.

His breath hitched. He quickly pulled back.

Close call.

Matthew, however, looked a little disappointed.

With a sharp slap, Zachary pressed the damp beasthide towel flat across Matthew’s chest, covering everything up.

Watching Zachary’s flustered panic, Matthew stayed calm on the surface. His gaze never once left the face in front of him, and the corners of his lips curved ever so slightly.

It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen this kind of thing before. He wondered why it felt different today.

Zachary simply lowered his head and shut his eyes, scrubbing harder and harder, trying to keep his mind pure through sheer physical effort.

Come on. Push harder. Focus!

He was practically chanting it in his head.

The scrubbing stung a little, but Matthew didn’t care at all. He even leaned forward, offering up his abs to make it easier.

The stone floor was slick with water.

Matthew casually stretched out a foot. Zachary didn’t noticestepped right on itand slipped, about to fall backward.

Matthew had been waiting for that. Quick as lightning, he grabbed Zachary’s arm and pulled him forward. And just like thata cliche, dramaworthy embrace.

This was the moment where background music should’ve kicked in.

Zachary’s face slammed straight into a firm, solid chest. When he realized what had happened, his whole face flushed red, like a boiled shrimp.

Matthew held him tight.

* Finished

Zachary didn’t know whether to bury his face deeper or lift his head. Then, suddenly, his whole body stiffened. He scrambled upright. II’m fine

Matthew froze for a second, his tone turning awkward. “I’ll take care of the rest myself.”

It’s fine, really,Zachary insisted, thinking he was unbelievably kindcomforting someone else even in a situation like this.

Yeah.” Matthew didn’t know what else to say.

In for a penny, in for a pound. He’d seen it all back in public bathhouses. What was there to be afraid of? If it came down to it, he’d just pretend he was bathing a cat.

Besides, when Matthew turned into a black panther, hadn’t he already seen everything? Just like the stray cats around the neighborhoodsame thing.

What was there to be embarrassed about with animals?

It’s fine!Zachary gritted his teeth, dunked the beasthide back into hot water, gave it a quick rinse, shut his eyes, slapped it onto Matthew’s thighand started scrubbing at lightning speed.

Matthew stood there and finally started to feel awkward too.

His skin flushed easilyhis face and neck turned red fastbut with Zachary scrubbing so hard that his whole body was already red, it didn’t stand out as much.

What a thoroughly intense bath.

The two of them walked out of the bathing area, both flushed and overheated.

Jaden was sitting quietly by the fire. Seeing the Alpha and the Sire like that, he looked at them with concern. Was it really hot in there?

Yeah,” they answered in unison, nodding.

After calming himself a bit, Zachary grabbed a stone bowl and tore up the leaves the shaman had given him earlier, dropping them inside.

Matthew, still wrapped in a beast hide around his waist, walked over. What’s that?

I tend to wander in my sleep,Zachary said as he lit the leaves. So I got some medicine from the shaman.

He had expected the leaves to burn up quickly, but instead, they smoldered slowly, giving off a scent similar

to incense.

That’s it?

Yeah.”

Matthew’s expression stayed neutral. Does it actually work?

No idea. Zachary held the bowl. The shaman said if you probably won’t wander off anymore.”

fall asleep with this scent, you’ll sleep deeply. So I

Mm.Matthew’s brows subtly relaxed.

He gently took the bowl from Zachary and walked into the cave, setting it right by his bedside.

Zachary lay down and, after only a short while, fell into a deep, motionless sleepso still it was almost unsettling.

Even Jaden, who was usually full of energy, shut his eyes and went completely quiet in an instant.

The cave fell into an eerie silence.

Matthew quietly opened the door. His gaze shifted from the faint smoke curling up from the stone bowl to Zachary and Jaden sleeping on the bed.

The shaman’s medicine really worked.

Letting out a breath, Matthew no longer bothered with yesterday’s careful, quiet movements. He strode in openly.

Standing by the bed, he watched his mate and cub for a moment, then reached out and pinched Jaden’s cheek.

No reaction.

He pinched Jaden’s nose. The cub frowned slightly but showed no sign of waking.

Matthew was satisfied.

He stepped forward, pulled the cub out of Zachary’s arms, and unceremoniously tossed him aside.

Just before picking up Zachary to leave, a flicker of fatherly instinct surfaced. Matthew turned back, grabbed a blanket, and threw it over Jadencovering him from head to toe.

Then, as an afterthought, he snuffed out the remaining flame on the halfburned leaf in the bowl.

Something that effective shouldn’t go to waste.
