Chapter 17 Their First Time Meeting
“Maybe they’re just curious,” Quincy said gently to reassure him.
Zachary asked, “Did I ever do anything inappropriate in public before?”
“Other than coming to collect food or visiting Wesley, you don’t go out much.” Quincy gestured for him not to overthink it.
However, judging from people’s reactions during the last gathering trip and now, Zachary found it hard to believe. “Is there really nothing?”
“Well… You…” Quincy paused, looking hesitant.
“It’s fine,” Zachary said calmly. “Just say it. At least I’ll be mentally prepared and won’t repeat those mistakes.”
“If you didn’t get the food you liked, you would
argue with Matthew and take someone else’s food.”
“In public?”
Quincy nodded.
Zachary didn’t know what to say and shook his head with a sigh, thinking that the original owner sure was a problematic person.
Of course, after several incidents, Matthew stopped letting Zachary attend these gatherings and would bring the food home directly instead..
Quincy had noticed the changes in Zachary recently, and since Taylor had already run ahead, that was why he had invited Zachary to come along.
The center of the tribe was a large, flat open space. From a distance, Zachary could already see a crowd gathered there.
“Quincy! Zachary!” Elias waved to them from within the crowd. “Over here!”
Zachary and Quincy walked over.
“This hunt was very successful!” Elias said, unable to hide his excitement.
Zachary looked toward the open space in the middle and saw piles of animals. Although they looked somewhat different from modern ones, he could still recognize some of them.
The childrennded the prey, cheering loudly as if the celebration had already begun. The therians who had spent the entire night hunting were resting in a corner away from the crowd. Despite their exhaustion, smile
remained on their faces.
After all, food meant survival.
“Alpha!” Taylor ran over and threw himself into Yael’s arms, but Yael stopped him with a hand.
“What’s wrong?” Taylor pouted, looking a little unhappy.

Chapter 17 Their First Time Meeting
“I’m too dirty right now.” Yael grabbed the little one by the back of his neck and held him beside him, laughing. “I know you missed me, but you don’t have to be that enthusiastic.”
Jaden wasn’t as lively as Taylor. He walked up to Matthew and quietly called, “Alpha.”
Matthew nodded and looked at Jaden up and down to make sure there were no injuries. Then, he patted the stone beside him and said, “Sit.”
“Look how steady Jaden is.” Yael teased.
“Well, he’s not your cub,” Taylor snorted. He plopped down beside Jaden, abandoning his own father.
The surrounding therians burst into laughter at Taylor’s behavior.
“Quincy has the gentlest temper,” Daniel joked. “I wonder who Taylor takes after.”
Yael waved his hand. “Who knows?”
“He is just like you,” Kyle said, tilting her chin toward the little adult–like Jaden. “Look, Jaden is just as steady as Matthew.”
Yael laughed again. Then, his gaze began searching through the crowd and quickly found Quincy. However, when he saw the sub–therian standing beside Quincy, his eyes widened instantly.
“Matthew, guess who I just saw?” Yael patted Matthew on the shoulder, clearly surprised.
“Who?” Matthew turned his head.
“Zachary!” Yael pointed toward the crowd. “Look! He actually came!”
Hearing this, the therians all looked over with surprise.
Everyone knew that Matthew’s mate rarely went out–and whenever he did, it usually meant trouble.
The therians shifted their gazes back to Matthew, feeling sympathetic. After all, Matthew still had to worry about what outrageous thing his mate might do when he returned after working so hard hunting for days. Anyone would feel exhausted.
Yael stood up and headed toward Quincy. He certainly didn’t feel comfortable leaving his mate near Zachary.
“Alpha, Sire isn’t the same as before,” Jaden quickly said when he noticed Matthew’s expression change.
“Yeah!” Taylor nodded vigorously. “Zachary treats us really well now. He even makes delicious food.”
