Chapter 195 Matthew’s Punishment

“Or are you trying to pressure me into it?”

Matthew shook his head at once. Even if he was at the edge of losing control, as long as Zachary refused, he would never cross that line. Not for anything.

Zachary said, “Go get Jaden.”

Matthew clearly did not want to. “He’s with Taylor=”

Zachary shifted like he was about to climb out of bed. “Then I’ll get him myself.”

“I’ll go.”

Rain was hammering down outside, and the air was bitterly cold. There was no way Matthew would let Zachary step out in weather like that.

As soon as Jaden returned, Zachary beckoned him over. “Come here and try this. I want to see if it fits.”

The moment Jaden saw the new outfit, his eyes brightened. He stood obediently with his arms out, then turned around and lifted his chin so Zachary could look him over properly.

It was a short cream beast–hide coat, finished with a soft furry hood and two roomy pockets on the sides. On Jaden, it looked unbearably cute.

Matthew watched from nearby without saying a word. In the past, he would have wrapped himself around Zachary and accused him of favoritism. Now, he did not even dare breathe too loudly.

“Thank you, Sire. I love it.”

Jaden had planned to fold the coat away and save it for a clear day, but the second he stepped into the cave, he stopped in shock.

Zachary’s belongings were all there.

Jaden hung his coat beside Zachary’s clothes, then walked to the bed and touched Zachary’s pillow. After a moment, he carefully placed his own little pillow next to it.

That meant Zachary would be sleeping with him tonight.

Once he was sure, Jaden’s lips quietly curved up. But after the first burst of happiness passed, he suddenly remembered Matthew.

Why isn’t Sire sleeping with Alpha? Did Alpha agree to this? Or maybe…

Jaden’s face turned solemn. Feeling unsettled, he left the cave and sat beside Zachary.

Matthew was crouched near the pot.

Jaden looked at him once, then asked Zachary carefully, “Sire… are you giving up on Alpha?”

Matthew tightened his grip around the wooden spoon, full of grievance but unable to protest. Before he could say anything, Zachary glanced at him, and he swallowed every word.

After dinner, Matthew shadowed Zachary wherever he went. Leaning against the stone wall, he tried tempting him with the one thing Zachary liked most. “Want to go to the hot spring?”

Zachary was still angry with Matthew, but he had no intention of punishing himself too.

“Take Jaden with us.”

Matthew answered instantly, “He’s not going.”

“How would you know?”

“Jaden already went with Taylor today.”

Zachary turned to Jaden. Matthew turned to Jaden too.

Under Matthew’s stare, Jaden felt a chill crawl up his spine. Against his conscience, he nodded. “Yes. Sire, I already went.”

“Fine, then.”

Zachary went into the cave for a clean set of clothes, then came back and stopped in front of Matthew. “Are we going or not?”

“Oh. We’re going” Matthew immediately shifted into beast form and lowered himself until his belly nearly brushed the ground.

When they reached the hot spring halfway up the mountain, Zachary climbed down and went straight to the pool in the corner. He took off his clothes and stepped into the steaming water.

Matthew followed and was about to enter when Zachary said, “Use another pool.”

Matthew said, “We can soak together.”

Zachary’s tone stayed even. “If you get in, I’m leaving.”

Matthew was deeply unwilling, but he moved to the neighboring pool anyway. Still, his eyes looked as if they wanted to remain fixed on Zachary.

A lean, firm body pressed in close. Zachary found himself looking straight into Matthew’s coldly handsome face, and his heartbeat stumbled.

Sure enough, no matter the situation, a beautiful face was still dangerous.

But the daze lasted only a second. Zachary quickly forced himself back to reason, planted both hands against Matthew’s chest, and tried to push him away.
