Transmigrated to Raise Panther Cubs
Chapter 235 Insomnia
Finished
Matthew had been erouching nearby the whole time, watching. When he saw Zachary sigh, he asked why. After listening, he said there was a kind of plant with relatively soft branches–if one smashed them flat with a stone, the fibers inside would spread out, making them very similar to the so–called toothbrush Zachary was trying to make.
Zachary’s eyes lit up instantly.
He immediately followed Matthew into the forest to gather some. Sure enough, just as Matthew had said, it was practically a natural toothbrush.
Judging from Zachary’s expression, Matthew figured he had done something right. So, before night fell, he tentatively asked for a reward.
“Tonight, let Jaden go sleep with Taylor.”
Zachary didn’t respond. He stood by the coop, focused on feeding the rabbits.
Matthew’s arm slipped around his waist. “How about going to the hot spring?”
Zachary glanced at him, then pointed to the tree outside the cave, speaking calmly, “You can sleep there tonight.”
Matthew’s hand, which had been inside Zachary’s clothes, paused.
“Clean up what’s inside,” Zachary added, clapping his hands. Then, he turned and walked away with effortless composure.
Matthew stared at the rabbits in the coop for a moment, then sighed. Picking up the broom Zachary had made, he stepped inside.
Salted green plums were simple–just layer salt and plums, seal them, and let them cure for over half a
month.
Zachary also planned to make some honeyed plums. However, since they didn’t have much honey at home, he only made a small jar–layering plums and honey the same way before sealing it.
The remaining honey was used to make more candy for Jaden, something for the child to snack on. Of course, Matthew had his own share too–a separate portion, specially stored in its own clay jar.
Two days before departure, Zachary remembered how, as a child, he always liked wearing new clothes when going out. So he stayed up late to make a set for Jaden–a white top and gray pants that looked rather stylish.
Jaden carefully folded the outfit and placed it by the bedside, ready to wear the next day.
Zachary had thought the child would be too excited to sleep. Instead, he ended up with insomnia.
After tossing and turning for the third time, Matthew reached out and wrapped an arm around his waist.

“What’s wrong?”
It was a little embarrassing, but that was the situation.
Zachary sighed. “I think I’m a bit too excited. I can’t sleep.”
A low chuckle came from above his head
They no longer kept a fire burning at night in the cave.
In the darkness, Zachary covered Matthew’s mouth with his hand. “What are you laughing at?”
His finger was lightly bitten.
Matthew suggested, “If you’re tired, you’ll fall asleep more easily.”
Zachary grabbed his wandering hand. “Then, I’d rather stay awake.”

“I’ll lull you to sleep.” Matthew slipped his hand free, then pulled him into his arms, gently patting his back again and again. “Sleep…”
At dawn, soft rustling sounds filled the cave. Half–asleep, Zachary opened his eyes and saw that Matthew was already up, getting dressed.
“Are we leaving?” Zachary’s voice was thick with drowsiness. He had slept late and was still exhausted.
“No.” After getting out of bed, Matthew bent down, ruffled Zachary’s hair, and tucked the blanket back around him. “I’ll make breakfast. Get some more sleep.”
“Okay…” Zachary murmured, closing his eyes again almost immediately.
Matthew boiled clucking beast eggs and roasted several large cuts of moo beast meat. Since Zachary didn’t like eating meat in the morning, he also steamed two red sweet potatoes just for him.
Jaden woke early. After sharpening his claws, he went to feed the long–eared beasts. Wearing his new clothes today and afraid of getting them dirty, he stood at the edge, stretching his arms to toss bundles of fresh grass into the enclosure.

Matthew sat by the bed and pinched Zachary’s warm cheek. “Time to get up, sleepyhead.”
Zachary rubbed his messy, sleep–tousled hair against Matthew’s wrist, squinted for another two minutes, then suddenly threw off the blanket and forced himself awake.
“Which one do you want to wear?” Matthew asked, standing by the wooden rack and looking at the rows of
clothes.
“The gray–white one.”
“And the pants?”
“The dark gray pair.”
Sitting on the bed, Zachary smiled as he watched Matthew bring the clothes over. He opened his arms,

wrapped them around Matthew’s waist, and gave his bottom a light pat in praise. “Good job!”

Since the weather had warmed, Matthew didn’t like Zachary wearing clothes to sleep–especially after Jaden started sleeping in the next space over. Even a pair of shorts was unacceptable.
At first, Matthew wasn’t obvious about it. But after Zachary fell asleep, he would quietly remove any obstructive clothing, then hold him close and sleep peacefully.
Zachary’s attempts to stop him failed, so eventually he just let him be.
Matthew’s hand slid down from Zachary’s smooth neck, giving a light squeeze. “I’ll help you get dressed.”
“It’s alright.” Zachary straightened up, reaching for his clothes–but Matthew beat him to it
“Arms up,” Matthew said.
Zachary smiled indulgently and obeyed.
“Lift your leg,” Matthew continued, clearly enjoying the process. “Raise your hips a little.”
