The white tiger therian with them couldn’t take it anymore and finally spoke up in Hubert’s defense. “Horace, why don’t we just head over there? Makes no difference where we stay anyway. We’ll keep an eye on things.”
Hubert’s ears instantly perked up. His eyes darted around so fast they were practically spinning.
Horace bent down and gave him a smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “How about this? We’ll help you chase after that sub–therian. Sound good?”
Hubert immediately looked up. “Seriously?”
“Of course.” Horace kept smiling. “White tiger fur’s gorgeous. That sub–therian’s definitely gonna love it. Later, you can skin me alive and bring him my beast hide as a gift. If that still isn’t enough, we can go back and ask Alpha if he’d be willing to hand over his beast hide, too.
“And if that’s still not good enough, then just bring that sub–therian straight to our tribe. We’ll line everybody up in beast form and let him pick whichever one he wants. The second he points at somebody, you kill them on the spot. Bet he’d be so touched he’d fall head over heels for you.”
If Hubert still couldn’t catch the sarcasm after all that, he was genuinely hopeless.
He pouted and muttered, “If you don’t wanna help, just say so.”
The next second, a loud thunk landed right on Hubert’s head.
Clutching it, he snapped, “Why the hell are you hitting me again?”
Horace’s expression turned cold. “Get your *ss up. Otherwise, I’ll drag you over to that sub–therian myself and beat you in front of him.”
Hubert’s strength might’ve been about the same as Horace’s, but the pressure an older brother had over his younger brother was practically instinctive. The moment Horace dropped the smile, Hubert instantly
folded.
“Fine, I’m getting up!” Hubert grumbled.

Horace ordered, “Pick the stuff back up and keep moving.”
Hubert grabbed the meat off the ground again, stomping his feet as he stubbornly marched all the way to the front.
The sun hung low in the western sky, and the afternoon light hit just right. The riverbank was already wide open to begin with, but now the whole place looked even brighter.
Yael eagerly tossed the processed grunt–beast meat into the large pot, then dumped in all the spices Zachary had prepared. He wasn’t sure about the amount of salt and oyster sauce, so he checked with the head cook before adding them in.

The mument the firewood caught, the therians from the surrounding tribes all started looking over.
They couldn’t figure out why Zachary’s group was cooking this early, or why they were even using a pot in the first place. Normally, when tribes traveled, everyone just threw meat straight onto the fire, sprinkled some salt on it once it was cooked, and ate it that way.
With a blade of grass hanging from his mouth and a fire poker in hand, Yael happily fed more wood into the makeshift stove. He completely tuned out the voices around him and stayed immersed in his own little world.
The therians eventually looked away from the fire and began eyeing Zachary and the others‘ unusual clothing. The outfits looked comfortable as hell and, honestly, pretty nice, too. Especially the two cubs‘ clothes. Tiny little things, perfectly fitted, and ridiculously cute.
Taylor and Jaden were already good–looking to begin with, but once they put the clothes on, they looked even more adorable. The two of them stood there like child models straight out of a boutique, drawing the attention of every passerby nearby.
A Pallas cat therian walked over with a cub in his arms, hoping to trade for the clothes Taylor and Jaden were wearing. He showed them what he brought, several pieces of pale lavender beast hide with a soft sheen to them.
Making finished clothes was still too complicated, and Zachary had no plans to expand into that business yet. Still, the color of the beast hide really caught his eye. He was about to recommend some other goods when a familiar scent suddenly drifted into his nose.
His eyes lit up instantly. Grinning, he quickly told Matthew and the others to lay out the woven baskets, fired pottery, and several stitched bags.
Picking up a backpack, he set it in front of the Pallas cat cub and said warmly, “If you like it, go ahead and try it on.”
Taylor and Jaden immediately slung their own bags over their shoulders and started casually showing them off to the cub.
The cub had been upset about not getting new clothes, but the second he saw the cute little bags, his mood completely turned around. Tugging on the adult’s hand, he said in a soft childish voice, “Alpha, I want this

one.”
At that moment, the Pallas cat therian’s attention had already been completely captured by the pottery and baskets. He crouched down and picked one of each up for a closer look. The basket materials were easy enough to recognize, but he had no idea what the pottery was made from.
Curious, he asked, “What’s this?”
“This is pottery. It’s used for holding things.” Daniel picked up a ceramic bowl and poured water into it as a demonstration. “You can even put it over fire.”
Kyle did not come today because Elias had not been feeling well lately, but he had already passed the hype–man role to Ethan. Ethan caught on fast. “Feel the weight. It’s way lighter than stone stuff, more durable than wood, won’t rot, and it’s convenient too,”
The Pallas cat therian nodded. “Then I’ll take two pottery pieces, one basket, and that bag too. What do

Zachary pointed at the things hanging from his arm. “I want that, plus two more pieces of beast hide.”
The trade was reasonable, so the Pallas cat therian agreed right away.
Looking at the large bag of cumin powder, Zachary was so happy he could barely stop smiling. “If you get more stuff like this in the future, you can always come trade with us.”
The Pallas cat therian asked, surprised, “You want this?”
“Yeah. You can also come directly to Black Panther Tribe to trade.”
Matthew took the beast hide Zachary handed over, folded it neatly, and tucked it into the beast–hide bag before passing over some warm water.
