Chapter 271 A Sweet Drink in the Wilds
Zachary was changing inside the cave when a question suddenly popped into his mind. He turned around and looked at Matthew. “What do newborn cubs in the tribe usually drink?”
Matthew’s gaze lowered without warning and stopped on Zachary’s chest. His throat moved slightly. “They drink what moo–beast calves drink.”
Zachary froze for a second.
“Wait.” He snapped his head up. “Sub–therians can produce milk too?”
Matthew nodded. His eyes did not move away from him, and the look in them grew heavier.
Zachary slowly looked down at himself. This is ridiculous. There is no way anything is coming out of me.
Matthew seemed to understand his doubt and offered an example, “When Jaden was born, other sub- therians in the tribe fed him.”
Zachary accepted it after a brief pause. “I see.”
By now, his tolerance for strange things had become much better than before. Something that would have shocked him speechless in the past only left him stunned for a moment now.
Matthew spoke about it calmly, though his own experience
better.
with raising a newborn had not been much
After Jaden was born, Zachary had disappeared into another dimension
Matthew had been left alone with the cub, and every day, he had to send Jaden to other sub–therians before going out to hunt.
Life did not truly ease up until Taylor was born. With Quincy helping to care for the children, Matthew no longer needed to hurry around the tribe all day.
Zachary then remembered the clothes. “That reminds me–let me see whether they fit.”
He took several pieces from the rack and placed them on the bed.
Therians had high body heat, and Matthew spent most of the day working or hunting, so Zachary had made his clothes loose and easy to move in. There were pants, short–sleeved shirts, and tank tops. The designs. were simple and comfortable, though Zachary had still made sure they looked good on him.
“Okay.” Matthew had clearly noticed the new clothes much earlier. He had not brought them up, yet from the way he reacted, he had obviously been waiting for Zachary to mention them.
He took off what he was wearing without hesitation.
Zachary soon realized one thing.
This man
looked better with less fabric on him.
The tank top, in particular, looked almost unfair on Mathew. The loose cut fell naturally over his frame,

leaving his strong arms exposed. The neckline sat wide enough to show his collarbones, and whenever the fabric shifted, the hard lines of his abdomen appeared beneath it.
He looked relaxed, rough, and far too attractive.
Zachary stared for several seconds and swallowed twice.
The next morning, milk was still on Zachary’s mind. He grabbed a clay vessel and went to the cattle pen.
He had only stretched out his hand halfway when he stopped, realizing that he had never milked a cow before.
More importantly, this was not an ordinary cow. If the moo beast kicked him, the result would be terrible. He thought, If that hoof hits my chest, I’m finished.
Zachary immediately called, “Matthew!”
Matthew walked over. “What happened?”
Zachary pointed at the moo beast’s belly. “I want some moo–beast milk. Do you know how to get it?”
“I can try.” Matthew stared at the moo beast for a moment, then stepped closer. Before his hand could even touch it, the moo beast suddenly lowered its head and rushed toward him.
Startled, Zachary jumped back at once. “Never mind. We can try later.”
Matthew shifted into his beast form on the spot. His claws came out, and a deep growl rumbled from his throat.
The moo beast instantly became quiet.
With Matthew guarding beside him, Zachary finally felt brave enough to try again. He crouched down carefully, placed both hands in position, and squeezed.
His first attempt was a complete mess. Milk sprayed everywhere instead of going into the vessel. It splattered across Matthew’s dark fur, and even Jaden, who had been lying nearby to watch, got hit.
Jaden wiped his face, then quietly moved farther away.
After struggling for a while, Zachary finally found the right motion. Once the milk began to flow properly. his mood lifted. The bottom of the clay vessel slowly filled, then rose little by little.
The young moo beast still needed its mother’s milk, so Zachary only took a small amount. After returning to the cave with the vessel, he brought some fruit to the mother moo beast as a small reward.
Fresh milk could not be drunk straight away. Zachary poured it into a pot and boiled it for several minutes. Before long, a rich milky scent filled the cave. The smell was pleasant, though the taste still carried a faint rawness when taken plain.
Matthew and Jaden had no problem with it. Both of them thought it smelled good and had a gentle
sweetness.

Since Jaden was still growing, Zachary decided he should drink a cup every day. Zachary himself, however. was not too fond of the plain version.
He took out a smaller pot, added honey, then tossed in a handful of tea leaves. Over low heat, he stirred slowly until the honey and tea darkened into a caramel–like color. After that, he poured in a little boiling
water.
The tea simmered for a short while before he added the milk. Once the mixture boiled again, Zachary filtered it carefully.
Just like that, the first cup of boba in this primitive world was made.
He took a sip.
It was warm, sweet, and fragrant.
The boba had just come off the fire, so it was still hot.
Jaden held his cup with both hands, blew at the rim, and took a cautious sip. The moment he tasted it, his long eyelashes trembled.
He clearly liked it too much to wait. He kept blowing on the drink as he took small sips, unable to put the cup down.
By the time only half remained, he gave up on drinking slowly and finished the rest in a few gulps.
Then, he licked the corner of his mouth and looked at Zachary with bright eyes. “Sire, can I have more?”
“Of course.” Zachary smiled and rubbed the boy’s head. “I’ll fill a few bamboo tubes later. When you go to find Taylor, bring some for him too.”
“Okay.” Jaden stayed beside him obediently and waited.
The rain that had lasted for days finally stopped for a little while.
The air outside was still damp, and mist hung lightly over the tribe, yet the cubs could no longer bear staying inside.
Taylor had wanted to call Jaden out to play the night before, even though the drizzle had not fully stopped.
