Chapter 284 The New Cart
Building the cart turned out to be much harder than Zachary had expected, especially with the wheek
He had to redo them several times before the thing could finally roll smoothly across the ground. It was still rough around the edges, but once the wooden platform was attached, it actually worked well.
Donald had witnessed the birth of this thing called a “cart” from start to finish and even helped make it He spent several laps pushing it around outside the cave, grinning from ear to ear. “This thing is amazing!
To test how much weight it could handle, Zachary had Matthew climb onto it while he pushed.
“I’ll push you instead,” Matthew offered.
“It’s fine. Just get on.”
Since it was his first attempt, the cart was fairly small. Zachary had modeled it after one of those old- fashioned two–wheeled handcarts.
The second Matthew climbed on, the front end tipped upward. There wasn’t enough room for him to sit normally, so he ended up sitting cross–legged, gripping the handles along the sides.
At the same time, he couldn’t help wondering whether he might accidentally break the thing under his weight.
Rubbing his hands together, Zachary grabbed both handles and shoved downward.
The cart didn’t move an inch.
Their eyes met.
A hint of embarrassment flashed across Zachary’s expression. He chuckled awkwardly. “I wasn’t ready just
now.”
Matthew responded with a calm hum of acknowledgment.
Zachary gathered himself and pushed down again with all his strength.
The rear of the cart barely lifted before immediately dropping back down.
Matthew swayed slightly. “I should probably push you instead
“My hand slipped.” Afraid Matthew would start overthinking again and secretly try to lose weight, Zachary hurried to explain. “It’s not because of you!”
Zachary refused to let him get off, so Matthew could only sit back down obediently. There was a trace of helplessness in his gaze.
On the third try, Zachary threw his own weight into it. He practically jumped and slammed down on the
handles.
This time, the back of the cart finally lifted off the ground,

Chapter 284 The New Cart
Matthew lurched forward and nearly lost his grip.
“You okay?” Zachary asked immediately.
“I’m fine” Matthew calmly straightened up and silently tightened his grip on the edge of the cart
Donald sat on a stool beneath a tree, happily munching on fruit as he watched the two of them/The longer he watched, the funnier it became.
Zachary pushed his mate slowly around outside the cave. It took some effort, but he felt ridiculously accomplished. In fact, he was pretty sure he could push Matthew all the way around the tribe.
Matthew would absolutely refuse that kind of public parade, though.
The cart was simply too small. With his large frame folded cross–legged on top of it, Matthew looked unintentionally ridiculous. He resembled a giant potted plant slowly rolling along, wobbling dramatically every time the cart turned.
“That’s enough.” Matthew’s gaze settled on the thin sheen of sweat forming across his mate’s forehead as he finally spoke.
Zachary tried easing his grip little by little, but the second he loosened up even slightly, the cart tipped backward out of control.
With a loud clunk, Matthew, who had been facing Zachary, went flat on his back and stared up at the ceiling of the cave, completely caught off guard.
“Hey!” Zachary rushed over to help him up.
Matthew quickly adjusted himself and sat upright. Then he said seriously, “Yeah… maybe I should be the one pushing you from now on.”
Zachary gently rubbed the back of his head. “Did you hit it? Does it hurt?”
“Nope. Doesn’t hurt.”
Donald doubled over laughing.
Sure enough, when Zachary climbed onto the cart, Matthew pushed him along with ridiculous case. He zipped lap after lap around the area outside the cave, moving like he’d spent half his life hauling passengers through city streets.
“Let’s take it over to the marketplace,” Zachary said. “We can see how well it works for moving supplies. If it does the job, we can make more later.”
Matthew nodded. “Sounds good.”
Donald suddenly found himself missing Bruce. He waved at the two of them and headed back toward his
own cave.
Fine, I’ll drink the nasty medicine. Bruce made it himself, after all. It’s not like he can even taste how awful it to. fide’s probably frustrated enough already. If I behave myself. I’ll even earn a little reward.
The thought alorie made him pick up his pace without even realizing it

Chapter 284 The New Cart
堂
Matthew pushed the cart while Zachary walked beside him.
As they passed through the tribe, they drew plenty of attention from the therians. The cubs, especially, were fascinated by it. They trailed alongside the cart, craning their little necks to get a better look.
Chuckling. Zachary lifted a few of them onto it. “This is called a cart.”
The cubs immediately burst into excited applause.
“Hehe! It’s moving!”
“This is so much fun!”
Before long, the cart was packed with cubs. They looked like a bunch of preschoolers on a field trip, getting pulled around by Matthew while enthusiastically waving at the adults along the roadside.
Seeing how much they loved it, Zachary decided he’d make two mini versions for Jaden and Taylor tomorrow. After all, they were his cubs. Of course, he was going to spoil them.
After the cubs reluctantly climbed off the cart, Matthew asked if Zachary wanted another ride.
Before Zachary could answer, a series of short, urgent snorts rang through the air. “Hnngh! Hnngh! Hnngh!”
Not far away, a massive wave of brown shapes was charging toward them. The sight was impressive enough to make anyone stop and stare.
Zachary froze for a second and turned to Matthew. “Is that…”
Matthew reacted instantly. He grabbed his mate and yanked him sharply to the side, shielding him behind his body while keeping his eyes locked on whatever was approaching
Two seconds later, Zachary finally got a clear look.
They were wild boars. A whole herd of wild boars of all sizes was thundering across the ground. Several piglets were even running along at the back of the group.
