Chapter 306 Market Misunderstandings

So every time, Zachary looked like a honey collector. He rode on Matthew’s back, and from a distance, it looked like a black panther carrying a sack.
Still, the harvest was always pretty good
That day, Zachary found several cassava plants. He had no idea how many years they had been growing there. Matthew kept digging with both paws for quite a while before finally pulling them out. They were huge. A whole cluster of roots came up together, and Zachary couldn’t even carry them by himself.
That afternoon, Zachary cooked a big pot of cassava dessert soup. It tasted even better with chestnuts and milk added in. It was soft, sweet, fragrant, and creamy. Even the little moo beast fell in love with it. After finishing its own bowl, it stared longingly at Jaden’s and Taylor’s bowls.
Matthew had gone off to work, so Zachary left half of the dessert soup sitting in cool water to chill for him until he came back.
While Yael and the others were out on patrol, they spotted Taylor and Jaden happily eating under a tree. They immediately came trotting over with huge smiles on their faces.

Zachary filled several jars with the cassava dessert soup and had Yael and the others take them to the therians patrolling nearby. The weather was so hot that even standing still for a little while felt unbearable, let alone walking around all day.
When the weather cooled down a bit that evening, Zachary headed to the market to trade for some fresh
fruit.
As soon as he arrived, he ran into Kyle.
Daniel and several others were gathered around him. Bruce and Donald were there too. Everyone wore warm, loving smiles as they stared at the baby in Kyle’s arms.
Ian blinked his big watery eyes and stretched out his chubby little arms.
“Baba… ya yi yi ya ya…”
Zachary gently touched his tiny finger and called out with a smile, “Ian.”
The baby immediately grinned, revealing his pink, toothless gums.
“Yiya…
Drool hung from the corner of his mouth as he leaned toward Zachary, asking to be held.
Laughing, Zachary took him into his arms.
The soft, milk–scented baby immediately leaned over and gave Zachary’s face a gummy “bite.” Then he

Zachary’s heart completely melted.

Holding lan in his arms, he headed into the market. Along the way, the baby excitedly waved his arms and legs while babbling nonstop. Every now and then, he planted a noisy kiss on Zachary’s face and rubbed his head against him.
Matthew strode over from a distance.
Before Zachary even noticed him, Ian had already started squirming and greeting him.
“Ah ah! Wa!”
“Ian.”
Without realizing it, Matthew’s voice softened when he spoke to the baby. His expression was gentle, too.
He bent down and shook a large mango in his hand.
“Do you want it?”
The baby reached out immediately.
“Ya…”

The baby tried so hard that his cheeks puffed out and his lips pressed tightly together. Matthew couldn’t help laughing at the sight.
Ian finally won.
Clutching the big mango in his arms, he giggled happily. His round eyes curved into little crescents.
Matthew said, “I’ll carry him.”
Zachary smiled and handed Ian over.
The two of them slowly wandered around the market for another lap.
They ran into some familiar faces from before and ended up getting mistaken for having a second child.
Someone from the Red Panda Tribe looked at Ian, then at Matthew.
“Zachary, where’s your new mate?”
Zachary looked confused.
“Huh? What new mate?”

Matthew immediately looked unhappy.
“Zachary only has one mate, and that’s me. This baby belongs to someone else.”
“Oh. Oh… I see.”
The Red Panda Tribe member smiled awkwardly.
“I was wondering why he doesn’t really look like ither of you.”
Once Zachary realized what they meant, he nearly burst out laughing.
How could the baby possibly look like us?
If he actually did, that would be a huge problem!
As for Ian, he didn’t care whose child he was.
He got passed around among Yael and the others the whole time. He didn’t cry or fuss. He just kept giggling, completely charming all the adults.
The skin of sub–therian babies was delicate, and their milky scent attracted mosquitoes.
Bruce specially made a medicine pouch for Ian to wear and also prepared some ointment for him.

Instead of answering, Bruce asked, “What’s wrong with you?”
Donald opened his mouth, then hesitated.
Bruce cupped Donald’s face and made him look directly at him.
“Hurry up and tell me.”
Donald finally spoke.
“You… really like babies.”
It wasn’t a question. It was a statement.
“Ian’s so cute. Don’t you-”
Before he could finish, Bruce suddenly realized something.

He leaned closer. His beautiful almond–shaped eyes narrowed as he stared directly at Donald.
“What are you trying to do
Donald said, “Everyone wants a child of their own.”
Bruce’s expression cooled,
“You want one too?”
“No.”
Donald answered without hesitation.
“But you…”
Bruce squeezed his cheeks harder, nearly distorting his handsome face.
“You what? Get all those weird ideas out of your head.”
Donald still wanted to say something.
Then Bruce suddenly spoke.
“So you’re going to
