After he finished washing Jaden, Zachary wrapped him in a towel and dried him off. Then he pulled a short–sleeved shirt over Jaden’s head. On Zachary it hung loose, but on Jaden it fell all the way to his knees, letting him skip pants entirely.
A delivery arrived soon after. Zachary set Jaden down on the couch with the TV on and the cake beside him, then went off to shower and change himself.
Jaden had never seen a cake like that before. It was pink, edged with soft ruffles, topped with airy cream, fruit pieces, and tiny animal decorations that looked almost too cute to eat.
He leaned in over the table, studying it for a long time. Eventually, he picked up the small spoon, scraped a bit of cream from the side, and tasted it.
The sweetness hit immediately, lighting up his expression. He quickly took another small bite, carefully scooping from the edge.
When Zachary came out of the shower and noticed the cream around Jaden’s mouth, he let out a laugh. But then he saw how untouched the cake still was, and his brows drew together. “What’s wrong? Is it not good?”
“It is,” Jaden answered without hesitation. He pushed the cake slightly toward Zachary. “You should have some too, Sire.”
That softened something in Zachary’s chest. He took a knife, cut a slice, and said, “Then we’ll share it.”
Jaden held the paper liner tightly, lips pressed together as he stared at the cake, wondering how something
could look so beautiful and taste so good
at the same time.
Zachary leaned back on the couch while Jaden sat beside him, watching television and slowly finishing the
dessert.
Ever since returning to this world, Zachary hadn’t been sleeping well. With Jaden right there next to him, the pressure in his chest finally eased, and before long, he drifted off.
When Jaden realized Zachary had fallen asleep, he quietly turned the TV volume down. Even though the weather outside was hot, the room stayed pleasantly cool. He found a thin blanket and carefully placed it over Zachary.
By the time Zachary woke again, that same fluffy head was still right beside him. He checked his phone–it was 1:00 a.m. already.
Jaden was still staring at the screen, barely blinking.
Zachary sat up with a faint smile. Of course–no child could resist television. Even one from a primitive
world.
He patted Jaden’s shoulder. “Let’s sleep now. You can watch more tomorrow.”
“Okay,” Jaden said immediately.

Chapter 348 A New Appearance
Zachary switched off the TV. “Time for bed.”

He had a spare toothbrush ready. After turning off the lights, the two of them went to the bathroom to wash up. Zachary even applied a light, pleasant–smelling lotion to Jaden’s face.
The air–conditioning made the bedroom a little chilly, so Zachary raised the temperature slightly.
Only then did Jaden notice the vent. He stood beneath it, arms spread, letting the cool air wash over him.
Zachary placed another pillow on the bed beside his own. “Jaden, time to sleep.”
The bed was far more comfortable than anything Jaden had ever known. The moment he lay down, sinking into the soft sheets and light summer quilt, it felt like floating.
“I’m turning off the light,” Zachary said.
“Okay,” Jaden replied.
Click–the room went dark.
Zachary pulled Jaden into his arms. “Let’s sleep.”
Jaden asked in a small, hesitant voice, “Sire… what about Alpha?”
Zachary ran a hand through his hair. “Do you miss him?”
“Yes.”
“We’ll look for him tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
The next morning, after staying up late watching cartoons, Jaden woke at the same time as Zachary He slowly rubbed his eyes, still groggy, trying to make sense of the unfamiliar room around him.
Zachary was already at the closet, rummaging through it. After a moment, he pulled oft elastic–waist shorts and handed them over. They were a bit awkward with the oversized shirt, but at least they kept things decent for now.
Jaden looked down at his oversized clothes and said nothing. He quietly tightened the shorts‘ drawstring.
With a child in tow, Zachary skipped public transport and took a cab to the mall to buy clothes.
Jaden stuck close the entire time. With his good looks and polite manner, he charmed the sales staff instantly, always responding with a soft “Thank you, Miss” whenever he was handed something. The staff
melted around him.
The store was still quiet that morning, so several sales staff happily helped pick out outfits, checking Occasionally with Zachary. Having both a handsome silver–haired child and an equally striking man in the shop made their shift unexpectedly pleasant.

Everything suited Jaden. In the end, Zachary bought multiple outfits along with hats, shoes, socks, a crossbody bag, and sunglasses. Standing in front of the mirror, Jaden looked almost effortlessly cool.
As they left, the staff handed him a small portable fan and a few plush keychains as gifts.
Passing the men’s section, Zachary paused–and walked out with even more bags. Most were for Matthew
-shirts, pants, sleepwear, shoes, and several sets of underwear.
Since the total exceeded the spending threshold, they qualified for free home delivery. Zachary left his address, handed over the bags, and then took Jaden toward the nearest subway station.
