Chapter 106
Broken Melody
Aurora’s POV
My body and mind ache – every muscle sore, every thought heavy. My heart feels like it’s been torn open and stitched back wrong.
The cold air whooshes around me – chilly, freezing, biting at my skin.
I curl into myself, leaning back against the rough bark of the tree, trying to disappear.
The world feels so big and empty and silent except for the soft rustle of leaves.
I close my eyes, my breath shallow, and for a moment, I just listen to the night.
The quiet hum of the wind feels like a fragile promise–like maybe, just maybe, I’m not completely alone.
A shaky breath escapes me.
And then, in a small, broken voice, I begin to sing
a thread of light.
“Moon so bright, up in the sky,
Watch me softly as I lie.
A mother’s love, like moonlight glows,
Even when the cold wind blows.
a lullaby I barely remember, but hold onto like
“A flash – Mom’s gentle hands smoothing my hair, a rare smile flickering across her face.
