Trapped by Seven Mafia Wolves novel Chapter 21

**TITLE: The Unplaceable End by Austen**
**Chapter 21**

**On Thin Ice**

**Matteo’s POV**

As I push through the front gates, I can already hear the engine of Leon’s car roaring to life, a fierce growl that matches the urgency pounding in my chest. Aurora lies in my arms, her body limp and lifeless, resembling a broken doll that has lost its magic.

The heat blasts from the vents, but it feels like a mere whisper against the icy grip of her skin. I slide into the back seat, cradling her fragile form against me, desperately trying to transfer as much warmth as I can. Every second feels like an eternity.

“Drive,” I command, my voice taut with urgency.

Leon doesn’t hesitate; he tears out of the driveway as if the devil himself were chasing us.

My hoodie envelops her, but it’s like trying to wrap a winter coat around a ghost. I look down at her hands, fingers stiff and tinged with a deep blue, a stark contrast against the pallor of her skin. Her lips quiver slightly, a silent testament to her state, even though she remains unconscious.

“Are you sure she’s breathing?” Leon’s voice cuts through the tension, his gaze darting to the rearview mirror, anxiety etched on his features.

“She’s breathing,” I grit out, the words tasting bitter in my mouth. “Barely.”

A heavy silence descends upon us, thick and uncomfortable, wrapping around us like a shroud.

“She was locked out for hours,” Leon finally mutters, his voice barely above a whisper. “I thought she was just sulking or hiding out or something, not—” His words trail off, his jaw clenching as if trying to swallow the guilt that hangs in the air.

“Yeah, well,” I reply coldly, bitterness creeping into my tone, “maybe we should’ve all been a little more vigilant.”

He doesn’t argue, and the weight of unspoken words fills the space between us.

As we pull into the garage, I waste no time. I lift her carefully, cradling her as I rush through the back door, hoping to keep the others asleep. She remains still, an unsettling calm that only heightens my fear.

The kitchen light flickers on as I gently lay her down on the counter. My hands move instinctively, grabbing towels and warm water, my heart racing as Leon hovers nearby, looking lost and helpless for once.

“She’s like a damn icicle,” I mutter, my voice strained as I begin to rub warmth into her cold hands and arms with the damp cloth. “Her body’s too weak to fight this off.”

“Should we take her to the hospital?” Leon asks, his eyes wide with concern.

“Not unless we want questions,” I reply, my tone sharp.

I turn to him, my jaw clenched tight. “You want them to ask why a half-frozen girl with blue lips was locked outside practically all night?”
